Today marks a week since we brought Gidget home from her breeder. She's been a very good little puppy so far. She's super sweet and very confident. Potty and crate training has been going really well and she is learning lots of new things. We switched her to raw this week and she absolutely loves it. I was a little worried that she may not be very food motivated, but she just didn't care for the kibble the breeder sent her home with...

She has been keeping me very busy. We've been doing a lot of basic foundation training and some socialization with neighbors on the block. Last night I took her to the dry cleaner and then walked along the adjacent shops and she got to meet lots of people which was great.

Around Tuesday or so, her little personality started coming out more and more as she settled in. She's a bit of a spitfire, which I should not be surprised by. And she is so incredibly fast and agile, it's amazing. Early indications are that she is going to make an awesome agility dog.

She and Lucy got to spend the weekend together and towards the end they were racing around in the yard and playing very well. Just have to keep a close eye to make sure Lucy doesn't get too boisterous. Lucy's been away all week at a show which has allowed me to focus on Gidget and do a lot of bonding, which is good. But we're all anxious for Lucy to come home.

Glad to hear that her training is going well, I'm sure she's a huge hit out in public. Aussies are sure people-magnets! I can't wait to see you compete in agility, too cool.

Are you doing AKC conformation with her, or the Aussie conformation (I can't recall the 'real' name)? I can't wait to meet her in person!

Hi Barb! I love it too when she does her lightening fast little puppy recalls. So cute. And she is FAST!

And you are so right about the people magnet! Last night we met this sweetest guy outside of Kinkos. He must have been in his 70's and he was going goo goo ga ga over her. It was adorable.

Yes we are doing conformation with her. And planning to also do OB, rally and agility. We will start with ASCA conformation and put her in the little puppy classes once she is vaccinated, so she can get the hang of things. We will see how she matures, but I anticipate we will try to finish her in ASCA first before we do too much in AKC conformation.

Can't wait for you to meet her too!

Oooooooooo she is so cute, beautiful and I would have trouble not cuddling her all day long. I wish Eli could play with Bass and wear him out but he is just too rough. At least he loves him and they do some wrestling, no running wrestling though.

Lucy came home Sunday night - she was at a show last week with her handler. I think it was a bit of a readjustment for us all! Boy oh boy, two dogs are a lot of work when you are not used to it!! I may also be a little paranoid about things and tend to over-manage things. But just want to ensure both Lucy and Gidget have good experiences.

So far things are going pretty well with the two of them, and each day gets a little easier. Lucy and Gidget don't constantly interact but I let them have a few play sessions each day. Lucy has learned pretty well to be relatively gentle. Now it's Gidget and her little shark teeth and jumping on Lucy that I have to carefully watch!! Thankfully, Lucy has been extremely patient and has a very stable temperament.
