I'll try to do a video this weekend. She moves SO well - I haven't been able to get anything other than bleary pictures of her haha :-)

| Here's the best I could do. I was hoping to capture her doing the zoomies... but of course, she decided to be pretty tame. We did have a long night last night, so she's still a bit tired (one of our cats ran outside We're still trying to find him..) Jaina At Five Months - YouTube
IT's still processing, so give it around half an hour

| Small update on Jaina's ears:
There's still some weakness in the tips, but I had to let them down for two days in a row (ran completely out of tape Sunday). I noticed Monday morning they seemed to be standing up pretty well... so I thought, okay, let's see how they do in another few hours.
Still standing super well! I might post them back up tonight (part of the decision to leave them down is that I cannot have them posted while she is in daycare - I decided that today I'd give her a full day of daycare), because the tips still seem a bit floppy when she shakes her head or runs around - but otherwise, they aren't bending toward her head anymore, and when they're straight at attention, they're probably straighter than my ruler!
Overall, they're shaping up nicely I'll probably stop posting around 7 months - not only did I just buy all new tape, but I just want to make sure. After that, I'm considering breathe-right strips - I've always kind of liked it when the tips tilted downward a bit, you know? But I don't want to sacrifice a great looking crop over taste.

She may be ready for the breathe rights. I used a skin bond (torbot) then placed the breathe rights on it and it was fairly stiff. Kept the tips from flopping all over the place. Is she done teething? We NEED new pics of Ms. Jaina!

| Oddly, I can see the photo today. not sure why I couldn't see it yesterday. She looks like she'd probably be ok with just breathe rights.

| Oh - I didn't realize it wasn't appearing properly. I typically use Imgur, but since I'd just uploaded my whole Picasa album to Facebook, I figured I'd just use the FB photo.
Good to know - I had her posted for two days without bumpers or a bridge, and took it off this morning (so she could go to daycare for the afternoon). I'll (hopefully) be able to get a nice picture of her later today to see how they look

| Sadly no new pictures for this post - I've got a ton on my phone I need to copy over of her in her play pen. I'm happy to say she's very, very comfortable with her life now - she sleeps with her belly up in the air and the silliest look on her face. Sadly, she did destroy her bed, but that's expected of a 6 month old.
SATURDAY - She graduates her puppy class Saturday! My girl's come SO far! She knows what "Git yer butt upstairs!", "Get in yer pen!", "Get on yer bed!", "Sit yer butt down!", "Sit!", "Lay", "Easy!", and we're starting to get "Stay!" and "Leave it!". Leash walking is doing better, but when she's wound up it can be hard.
The staff at our local PetSmart just love and adore her - and I feel really lucky to have them nearby. They've helped me immensely with training (I sometimes sneak in to see how they're acting with her - they're not letting her jump up, and they have new employees interact with her to help socialize her, as per my instructions). She did wear out her doggie paws the other day - a negligent employee let her run around in circles for an hour They DID apologize, though, and gave me the supplies to make up for it.
Her trainer loves her so much, too, that she's considering talking to Foxfire herself in the future. She knows about the Dobe rescue we have up north, but I think Jaina's making her change her mind
It's amazing to me sometimes. The last few months have been very hard on me - I've been extremely sick plus have a new promotion at work so I haven't been able to miss any work, and of course Jaina's been bored and missed me as a result. But thank the LAWD for dog daycare - it's kept us both sane during this trying and sudden life change, and I don't regret bringing her home one minute
Also! She's starting to come off of the Eukanuba and onto the Naturals that PetSmart feeds, just to ease her onto something with higher protein. I do plan on putting her on something like Wellness or Orijen, but I don't want to do that kind of a protein changeup on her. Her poops were soft at first, but after only a week I've got her on about 33% of the new stuff (so 2 cups of Eukanuba, 1 cup of Naturals two times a day) and her poops are firm again! I'm slowly ramping it up, but its a nice feeling to know that she won't have to be on Eukanuba her whole life - especially when it looks like she may be allergic. She's got some lumps just on her skin which the vet thinks might be an allergic reaction to something - I'll post up pictures of them when I can - so hopefully new food will fix it.
Anyway, that's teh end of my wallpost. Definitely pics on Saturday of her in her graduation cap!

| Hmm...I believe we're in dire need of Jaina pix! Siri says she needs to see her relative!
Sounds like things are going well and that's she has settled in perfectly. How awesome that she's about to graduate puppy class. Will you be signing her up for any more classes? I wonder if there are any puppy foundation agility classes near you...if Jaina is anything like my girl she's a jumping fool!
Ahhh...leash walking. Siri is also "better". Better means my arm is either getting stronger or she's stopped pulling as hard! Jaina is a Jet grand-daughter right? Seems as though the Jet kids/grand kids are super strong pullers.

There's an agility class nearby, but she needs to pass beginner obedience first (solid "come", and a solid "stay" - she definitely has perfect recall, but her "stay" is still a little bit iffy).
I'll have to look at her pedigree again - but I know there's lots of Jet in there. Quote: |

| Hmm, make sure you don't have Imgur.com blocked. Most of her pictures are hosted on there, but a few are also hosted on Facebook.

| Sounds like we're hitting that age - the boneheaded "teenager" age. I can already tell I'm going to be counting down the days til I can spay her
I got a pawgress report yesterday that basically said she's acting dominant with the other female dogs and apparently tried to hump one of them. SIGH. I never saw the behavior myself, but I don't doubt that it happened (I'm pretty good friends with the trainer there at this point).
So that tells me she'll probably be in heat any day now. SIGH. Not really looking forward to that because I have NO idea how I'm going to work out all of her natural energy on my own! I am guessing dog parks will be out, it'll be harder to walk her (we live in an area with a LOT of dogs and even coyotes - I wouldn't want to risk it), and I'll be watching her like a hawk.

Y u stacks stuffs on me! its nawt funneh! I's stacks mahself on u nao!
Mommmm, gimme dat! I dun wanna gets up! ( I had to get out her leash in the end - she wouldn't even get up for a treat. I guess she felt really worn out after daycare + errands today + luxurious pad)

Siri is right at 10 months and hasn't come into season yet. I thought she was just about to a few weekends ago when she started acting like a complete brat, but so far, nothing. Maybe Jaina's just being a bratty puppy?

| Possibly. According to her daycare, yesterday she settled down quite a bit - it may have just been that one bitch in particular (it was a GSD), because apparently she plays just fine with the other girls.
Also - 10 months? Whew! Hopefully Jaina is the same. She's not showing any other signs of... development in that regard, so I'm gonna keep holding my breath. I know they can start as early as 7 months, but I'm hoping she only has one or two before I can spay her.

| She is adorable!
If it makes you feel any better, Guilty, who is a Jet daughter, didn't have her first heat until 11 months, neither did her sister. Their mother was the same, so I don't know for sure who to thank for that
ETA: I know that Jaina isn't a Jet kid, but you said he was back there somewhere.

The other dogs in my house are neutered/spayed but I fear the neighborhood dogs from all the stories I've read!
Either way, I ordered her some pink, sparkly "thong britches" so we're prepared and stylish.

Jaina is a Jet grand-kid out of Tucker (CH Foxfire N KO Mojito Madness WAC).

ETA: I know that Jaina isn't a Jet kid, but you said he was back there somewhere. | I know that Jet's in her line - I don't have her pedigree on hand, so I can't say exactly how closely related they are. I just LOVE Jet kids though - between Jaina, Guilty, and Siri, I think I've found a favorite line. I really like how refined they look and their attitude - Jaina's such a sweet, mischievous scamp. Maybe a few years down the road Jaina'll have a little brother/sister to torment her. Quote:

Either way, I ordered her pink, sparkly "thong britches" so we're prepared and stylish. | Haha! Yesterday her trainer and I were laughing about doing that with her - and making a "chastity belt" out of it. I've personally only had rescues before, so an intact bitch is new territory for me, too. Nonetheless, I already know what I'd do were she to somehow end up pregnant - as much as I'd hate to be in that situation, I figure it's better to be prepared. I'll most likely never have to make that decision, though - knock on wood.
I guess I should start playing dressup with her, though, so that she doesn't try to remove her britches She always tries to play with her posts, and is only still getting used to the "hats" I put on her (I've been trying to get a picture of her wearing my boonies hat, but she always shakes it off too quick).
