Maybe this was not such a good idea.

Well as some of you know we just joined the forum recently a couple of weeks ago. We picked up a brother and sister dobes from a friend of ours. They are nine weeks old. At the time I really didn't think anything of it. But after reading all of the posts on here and seeing them in action. I believe it was a mistake to get litter mates. They constantly are rough housing and fighting. Sometimes I can't tell if its playing. But the barking and the growling makes me worry. Especially when I've noticed some pretty stout bite marks on the both of them.

So we are in need of your advise. I know we should have considered this before hand. Even though I've done this before with a different breed. We are just looking for some ideas and maybe the possibility of placing one of them. They are both sweet and well behaved well for puppies. Any advise you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Have you talked to the breeder? I realize that some "breeders" only want to sell puppies and won't take them back/provide support/etc. You're other option would be to contact a local dobe rescue -- you can search on here or ask depending on what area you are in.
You'll probably find that re-homing one of the pups now would be best - young pups are always easier to place than waiting until you have real problems in year and trying to place one. It will also be much easier to bond/train one pup. If you decide you want a second dobe, you could consider either waiting a couple years or rescuing an adult, trained dobe.
Good luck with your situation, I know it is not an easy choice.

Was formulating a response, but reddobes said it all, and very well. I'd consider rehoming one of the pups now - if the breeder was responsible, then back with them. If the breeder was not the best, then through a dobe rescue. Where are you located, perhaps some of us know where you can place one?

Agree'd. Definately something you will end up regretting if you keep both. It will get worse before it gets better and one usually ends up very dominant and the other very submissive. Plus, they won't even know you humans exhist, they'll bond to each other and not you.
The breeder should not have sold them to you in the first place.
The breeder should take one back and find it another home, shouldn't be hard at this age.

I think that you should consider finding another home for one of them. The breeder that we got our Titus from would not sell us two pups and strongly advised against it.

Just as a side note: Dobies do play rought whether it is with each other or other dogs but having two pups at the same time from the same litter could be a handful.

Thanks Everyone! We have started a search of good homes to place our little girl "Isabell." Does anyone know of a Rescue Group in Florida that I might contact just in case?

If I didn't have two pups already, I'd be driving down there right now. It's only a 2 day drive from Toronto, but a puppy is worth the drive to Florida. Plus any excuse to get out of the cold is looking good right now.
