| My first Dobie Puppy - Critique?
Hi All! 
I posted over in New Member Intros, but I thought I'd post here because I'm the proud new owner of a lovely fawn 7 1/2 week old (well, he'll be 8 weeks before I get him) male that we have named Oberon (Obie for short). I'm so excited about bringing him home!
I've had lots of other puppies and rescue dogs, but never a purebred Doberman. Heck, I've never had a purebred dog, period. But I'm super excited to be able to raise this one and make my own mistakes (hopefully few in number) rather than having to try to fix mistakes that others have made. I've put in my time that way.
Anyway, I'm very excited about my pup, and I'd actually like some feedback. He's coming home with me, and he's NOT meant to compete in the confo ring, I'm looking at doing obedience with him. But can you critique him? I'd like to start developing my eye. Don't worry, I won't be upset by your critiques - he's coming home with me and I will love him no matter what. I am going to leave his ears natural because he's not a conformation dog.

doberkim, you'll have to excuse my unfamiliarity with dog critiques (I'm a horse person, so I understand how to set up a horse for confo shots)...
When I get him home, I'll attempt the stacking, and then am I looking to do directly side-on, and straight on? Of course, I can't guarantee I'll get good pictures...heck, I'm not even sure I can do the stack, but I'll give it a shot  | |

| He's quite the handsome fella. Just an after thought, as I recall the AKC standard does not require his ears to be cropped for conformation. I believe the rule states "may be natural or docked" I could check on that more for you if you like. but I am pretty sure that is how it reads as I believe we are going to show our new little man and I have been doing some reading on it of my own.

You can't tell anything about his conformation in those pictures #1 because of the angle and #2 because he isn't stacked properly.
