| Pinch Collar Pics for Carol Carol,
Here are two pics of Rudy's pinch collar. If I make it looser, the collar will fall.

| It's hard to tell from the pictures with his head down. Can you take pictures of him standing with his head held in a normal upright position? From these pics the collar definitely looks to tight though. It *should* rest loosely on his neck, only tightening when you give a quick correction, then immediately releasing again back to loose.

| Looks too tight to me too....Petey is inbetween links...so I leave it looser, it does the job fine.

| Based on this, I think Red's prong collar might be too tight as well. I'll add another link next time I use it. Thanks for posting the pics, Scoob. |

| how do you keep it up behind the ears if its not tight? I haven't figure that out yet... but I don't use the collar regularily either.

| It's actually easier to fit it correctly with the 2.5m links. The collar on Rudy is NOT the 2.5m. |

| Since you mentioned in a previous thread that the pinch is now drawing blood then yes its too tight and perhaps being overused. I don't agree with training with a pinch collar when it is not in use on a leash and you are walking your dog.
I think Rudy is spending far too much time with the pinch collar on just to subdue his behavior instead of addressing his behavior through other training techniques such as rewarding good behavior. Rudy does not respect you Jim and as many of us have instructed you in the chat room you must regain control through other methods. Some of those already mentioned to you include:
No treats unless he works for one
No sleeping in the bed (crating at night)
Not allowed on furniture
Crate him if he gets demanding
You go out the door first..he waits for the OK from you. He needs to get you permission to do anything.
Same with coming out of the crate. Open the door and say wait, if he bolts shut the door on him and say wait, repeat if necessary, and then give him the OK.
No off leash activities outside since he is biting you...use long leash (20 foot)
Reinforcing obedience commands already learned ... down stays, leave it, etc. Get him out in public everyday and make him focus on you outside of his environment.
Make him work for every kibble - feed him them one at a time
When you start saying things like, Oh he's a great dog except once in a while he likes to bite or Oh he's not that bad just like to bite once in a while...that is denial. Biting is not acceptable behavior and it will escalate as his dominance over you grows.
Neuter him now or he's going to be a major problem soon.
This is my best advise I can give to you my friend. I know you love this dog dearly but you need to be Alpha Daddie. I know you can do it. Don't be a softy right now he needs your leadership.
Tracy.

| The smaller collar is more severe so he might be better off with the one he has, however they are much harder for me to get the correct fit on. |
