Tiny brag :)

Ok, so I had to bathe Torque. When he lives on 12 acres, and has free run of about an acre and a half, with assorted dirt, gravel, livestock manure possibilities, not to mention an rat terrier to aid him in getting even dirtier, well, let's just say you bathe more often than twice a year!

Generally, I take him by the collar, lead him into the bathroom and shut the door. That part is pretty easy. Then I run the water until it gets warm, and add cold - I use a hand held shower to actually get him wet and rinse him after.

Normally, I then grab his collar and start pulling him to the tub. He, of course, has other ideas that do not include cooperating. His collar then begins to slip over his head, and in desperation I then grab him around his middle and put his front feet in the tub, after which the hind feet follow on their own.

Might I add that Torque now weighs 60 pounds.. and I didn't look forward to this one bit - though he doesn't throw himself about to avoid being put in the tub, just his resistance and pulling backward, plus his strength and weight are, well tiring! I'm only 5'1" tall... LOL!

So I grabbed his collar, and he actually... let me lead him up to the tub. I was so pleased by that. Then I said what I always do "Get in the tub"

AND HE DID IT ALL ON HIS OWN WITHOUT ME PULLING, PUSHING, LIFTING - I did have my hand through his collar but he just GOT IN BY HIMSELF.

Can we say "mommy" praised him and whooped de dood over him? LOL!

Good Boy, Torque!!!!! Makes me wonder if he would have done it all along if only you had asked? jk
You must be making him enjoy the bath so he is willing.

Once upon a time, I used to have a GSD that would try to crawl in the tub with me, he loved baths.

Good job HSH

That's awesome - great job! Since you bathe him often, that will be great that you won't have to fight him to take a bath anymore - that will mean bath time will be more enjoyable for the both of you.

Good dog Torque! I was so relieved when I taught Cher to jump on the grooming table herself for doing her nails. Lifting her one end at a time wasn't an easy task for me.

Nice one for Torque! Makes you wonder why they've all the sudden changed their mind, doesn't it?

Like Red used to fight us to get into the backseat of the car. But then one day he just hopped right in and he's done it great ever since. Same thing with going down stairs... weird dogs

Good for Torque. Just goes to prove that you are doing great with him. Don't you love it when they pick up something by themselves after you have been teaching them to do it? My two puppies love the horses' wash stall in the barn. They think it is oh so much fun!

Isn't it great when things like this happen!??!?! The other day, I trimmed Risa's front toenails without her screaming. This was a huge step for her, and it felt wonderful! Congratulations!
