| Very worried! Hessian just turned 7 months old and his right ear still isn't standing for more than a few days. I am posting his ears correctly, and never let him go unposted except for a 1-day break after being up for 6 days in a row. I then re-wrap them the following morning. Is it very common for a show crop to take this long to stand? I am very worried that his ear will not stand at all, no matter how long I keep wrapping them! I have put so much time and patience into his ears, and don't want it all to go to waste. Advice would be appreciated. I am a very worried mommy! |

| | Alpha | Keep taping and stop doing the 1 day break. Take them down, clean the ear and put them right back up again. No breaks.

I've known dogs who had at least one ear posted up until 14-15 months.
If the ear is standing for a couple of days, that's a good sign. Keep posting..

| Keep posting.
It WILL work.
Mensa has a longer crop, too, and her ears were posted for 6 1/2 months.
Believe me, there were days where I wanted to take her back and have her re-cropped military style because I thought I never would finish posting! |

Starlaine Dobermans | I agree with the 6 day rule thats what i have always followed but on the 7th day i leave them down for hours NEVER OVERNIGHT or ALL DAY. How old was he when he had the ears done? Show cut always takes longer ..dont get too nervous i had a dobe that was just about a year old before the ears were totally standing. Many take up to 9 months..Keep it up!! |

| Thank you everyone for the responses. It makes me feel much more at ease. TGEJR: I had his ears cropped at 12 weeks. They were standing PERFECTLY a couple months ago, but for some reason, his right ear started to fall. I'm guessing it's because his teeth were still coming in?? |

I always add Nupro to my dogs food during their teething period i find it helps out with the ears. |
