Neutering Question and Pics?

Hi all again.
So here is Lil Mr. Ruger With His ears Cropped and in a Cup.
The Cup is coming down this thursday.

My question is: To Neuter or not my little Puppy? I am not going to breed him,
all the Dogs I have had were never neutered nor I bred them. But when I had them I lived in Europe and at that time 10 years ago this was not Done unless for medical resons Cancer or other complications.
Here it is almost a standard for a House pet.

But I really do not want to.
How many on here have Dobe's that will not be bred, but are not Neutered?
Here are the Pics:

He looks really cute! congrats! As far as neuter, generally most dobe owners wait till after 8mos yet some will wait up to 18 mos before neutering due to hormonal fluctuations during growth. There are pros and cons to neutering or not and members here have provided some good information that supports and refutes either side. Ultimately, the decision will be totally up to you, If you can responsibly own an intact dog then I don't think it would be a problem.

What the heck is he wrestling with in that last pic? an alligator?

To answer your question, most people agree to neuter before one year if you don't plan to breed. On the other hand, my boy was about 5 years old when I had him done. He was never bred, and I had no issues at all as far as him roaming or being aggressive. The neuter was only done to reduce the chance of cancer and did not affect his personality. He lived to a ripe age of 12 1/2, so I think it worked out well. I'm sure my opinion to go with your instinct will be against the grain, but there you have it.
Good luck whatever you decide, he's a great looking boy!

BigBoy31,
He is a cutie. Looks alot like my Sydney who is female. I had the same questions as you re: neutering. My scene is slightly different because I have a male and female only weeks apart, so I am leaning toward neutering earlier rather than later. There are excellent views on both sides of this issue. I think the best argument for neutering is that it will reduce the chances of cancer. Every dog is different. Do you want him impregnating another dog? Just a thought. good luck.

Thanks all.
I understand he is to young to be neutered yet. I am just thinking ahead.
In the last picture he is wresteling with an aligator head, I got from Florida.
He was so scared of it at first would just run up and tuch it and run away now he loves playing with it.(Only under Suppervision) The way I took the Picture it looks like the aligator is alive lol.

He is such a cutie I think the jury is still out on the best age to neuter them is. I have heard anywhere for 8 months to 1.5 years. It is up to you & your vet. Then again I have a female

I have never seen a "cone" approach to cropping, it was interesting. How long have they been posted? I must have missed your first post, how old is he? My 20 wk old's ears are just standing for about a week before falling, so I estimate another few weeks before I can take them off for good.

cone's are commonly used after ear cropping surgery, before actual posting. the cone acts as a support so the ears dont flop everywhere and get infected or open up.

shaishai,
She is beautiful! I noticed thast her ears were only taped in two places. Is she at the end of her posting? I would appreciate the input on posting. I know there are several posts on this, I was just wondering. Thanks
