Bumps on both front elbows

Hello there,

It's hard to get a good picture, but there are bumps on my Rudy's elbows. Is this from him rough-housing, or could this be some-sort of mange? Thanks,

Scoob (Jim)

Calluses are usually formed on points of the body that comes in contact with hard surfaces that they may lay on repeatedly. Even though I have a few of the coolaroo beds for my girls out on the patio, my girls like to lay on the blue stone surface and they get calluses on their elbows and ankles.

Usually ours clear up on there own or you can use a cream to clear it out faster. I know it was mentioned before by someone, but I forgot.

Thanks for looking. My camera doesn't do close up shots very well.

Young dogs - shorthaired breeds in particular can also be prone to staph infections of the skin -- little pimples/papules (red bumps). For pups that have an occasional pimple we usually don't treat, but pups that have numerous pimples are typically treated with oral antibiotics and medicated shampoos. If he has many red bumps/pimples or if they are in other locations (belly, inside thighs and top of head are common ones), then I would recommend a trip to the vet.

I agree with Mr. Kratty. Maybe the crate might need more padding?

I have a beautiful white mattress for his crate, but he starts to tear it up when I put it in the crate. So, I told him I will put it in there when he is a little older. He lays down outside too when I am out with him. I'll keep an eye on them.
