| | Alpha | At what age do you start Shutzhound? I really think that Bo would do really well in this, he's extremely smart and I really need to get him into something that is challenging for him.
We go on daily walks and he does so well and really picks things up so fast. |

| We never start to early with schutzH. over here, for the biting they must be ready with teething, for the obedience part, mostly we started between the 6 and 8 months, but also depend on the dog.
Tracking you can start early.
When you really want to do this with your dog, be sure you find a good club with experienced trainers who know what they are doing.

| As soon as you get your puppy you start with the basic obedience and developing the prey drive. You can never start too early. You need to find a good schutzhund club to start out with though as it's not something I would recommend as a self taught sport, even the beginning stages. Oh, you can also start tracking very early on.

| Schutzhund, as most of us know it, is a competitive sport for dogs. It is a combonation of Obedience, Tracking (following scents), and Protection (bite work, bark holds), Im not too familiar with the sport, but thats what I understood it was. Its fun to watch, you can search youtube for Schutzhund videos, I think Elly has some videos online of her dogs too if I remember correctly. |

| A question about the obedience The club I just joined is really great. However, the Training Director told me to not work on obedience beyond basic house manners until Reggie's bite was solid. Is there any truth to this? |
