Question about posting ears

Hi, everybody. I've been posting my 11 week old puppy's ears, and the right ear it leaning toward the center of the head just a bit. I"m using the tampon method and use tape between the ears to create a "cross-bar." I know that the cross-bar is not too tight. It's super loose and lets the ears drop when Risa doesn't have them at attention. I think that I need something firmer between the ears to maintain a certain distance. Does this sound correct? Any suggestions for how to keep the right ear from tipping towards the center of the head? (I thought it was due to the tampon bending, but I just put in new tampons last night. The right ear is still tipping in when Risa gets excited and has her ears really perked up.) If I tape more of the bottom of the ear, the "bell" area, and tape it a bit tighter together, would that help keep the post more erect? Right now I taped a piece of a straw to the cross-bar. I found a taping method online that uses a caulking rod between the ears. Went to Lowe's the other day, and they said they don't have caulking rods. Any suggestions? Here is a link to site that using the caulking rod method...

I'm going to talk with the breeder tonight to see what she says, but I was also interested in getting feedback from others. Thanks!

Caulking foam tubing is close to the correct term. Lowes' has it, that is where I get mine. It is hanging up on a pegboard somewhere around the shelves of caulking. It is in a plastic bag and is one continuous roll. You cut it to size.

Also if the ear is tipping inwards usually that means your pup has a pocket. When you post the ear be sure to pull it up and then stick it to the glue on the post. If the pocket is too bad you may have to put a cotton ball in it to push it out when you post.

My pups ears did the same. I corrected it by useing a couple of cotton balls in the pocket crease before putting in the tampon. I'm not sure if this worked or if It just worked itself out as I posted more, But I would give it a try.
