I am confused why he will use the doggie door sometime and sometimes he wont

Zeus is 9 weeks old and still very young but he knows when I take him out side he goes potty. Sometimes he has on his own gone out the doggie door that I have and goes potty. This morning he went out side on his own and pooped but hours later he pooped in the house. He will sometimes go by the door to go out and sometimes no warning. Why is that? I have 2 yorkies that he watched go out the doggie door to go potty so that has helped. I will now have to get a doberman size doggie door for him Any suggestions? I praise him and when he goes potty using the doggie door I give him a treat.

Maybe he got to playing, had to go and forgot about the door. Plus that door could look really far away to a little puppy that has to go now.

For posting pics on a thread, I got an account w/ Photobucket: http://photobucket.com/

You can upload your pics there for free and then copy and paste the IMG code into the body of your message for each photo. Hope that helps!

He's still a baby. Maybe taking him to the doggie door after meals, water, playing, etc will help to reinforce it. Puppies are like toddlers - why go outside to pee when I'm having so much fun playing??? And by the time they realize they have to pee, ooops, too late!

Okay I just looked for them. On the home page under "site navigation" over on the left is an option to "upload pictures". You have to have them loaded on your computer first and then you can load them in your gallery. Seems like there were more instructions, but I am not sure. I can't find any more instructions.
You can probably fumble thru it like I did. You will eventually get them on there.
To add to your posts I use photobucket and Bluefly44 is right on how to do it.

He's young. Lets face it, he probablly just went out the doggie door to play and just happened to poop. At his age it is probably still your responsibility to take him out after meals and naps. I had a doggie door for GKar for a while and he had the same problem. I wound up giving the door to a friend and re trained him to go outside.

You are expecting too much from him, it will be several more months before he is 100%. I think at such a young age it would be good to take him out and then praise him every single time he goes. At your babies age, it is too easy for him to forget to go to the bathroom while outside, and because he has NO holding power, when the feeling hits....he lets loose.

It all passes so quickly...enjoy puppy-hood.
