Start out with shorter rides, so the car ride is over before he starts manifesting signs of being car sick. You may have to start out just sitting in the car for a few minutes, and gradually work your way up to having him in the car when it's moving.

Isabelle got car sick as a puppy - thankfully she grew out of it. Try to not feed him before you go for a ride. Also a half of a benadryl (I think) can help. I don't know why it works - check with your vet for dosage though it has been a long time since Isabelle was a puppy.

You might want to also not feed him before you go for a car ride. At first our girl was not thrilled about car rides now she just love going for a ride in the car.

A small dose of dramamine can work wonders if given about 30 minutes before leaving. Check with your veterinarian on dosage

Our boy was like that too and never out grew it in the 6 years we had him. The vet even gave us a very mild sedative to give him, but he would get such bad anxiety attacks, we just didn't want to put him through that. He was fine for about 15 -20 minutes then he would start barking and shaking. I'd like to know what others have to say on this subject.

He needs to be in a crate...that will help with the sickness AND is much safer.
