Ok I've had a new kitten in our house for about a week now and for the life of me, can't keep Suri out of the litter box...Tonight I literally pulled kitten poop out of Suri's mouth...Why in the world is she eating cat poop and how do I keep here away from the litter box?
I know litter box stuff could really hurt Suri...Everytime I turn around, she in it...Please help!! |

| A lot of dogs love the taste of cat poop. Nice little bite size tootsie rolls I forget why they like it, high in protein or something.
But anyway, you may have to relocate the box to somewhere Suri can't get, or somehow keep Suri out of the room with the box in it. I have my cat litterboxes on the landing to our basement stairs, and the door has a cat-size arch so the cats can come and go, but the dog can't get in there. |

| Burns is right--some dogs think its a tasty treat. Best suggestion is in a room that has a dog gate with a cat gate at the bottom. You can get them at Petsmart. |

| Here is the cat arch we installed:
Got it from Dr Foster & Smith online: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...68&pcatid=2968
We installed it without that brush thing though. Works great, the cats (even my 16 lb cat) has no problem getting through it. |

| | Alpha | If its a normal coverd box you can turn the entrance towards the wall as a quick fix until you find a better way, cats can get in but pups cant. |

| Years ago, after my last Doberman, Mavis, was eating poop (cat poop, goat poop, and donkey poop) I asked my Vet why she did that.
The Vet said "because they're stupid".
She has Dobermans too, so she knows how they are. |

| | Big Dog | As gross as it is and as much as I hate to admit it, I have also caught Phoebe with some cat poop in her mouth or lickin her chops after downing some. I now train myself to just beat her to the kitty litter igloo and flush it before she can get to it. She seems to be less interested in it since growing up some but I don't trust her. Good luck. |

| Thanks for all the responses...Just got home and she's already eaten crap again! I am so frustrated. I am going to buy a little door to keep Suri away from the litter box...Should I be worried that the litter stuff will hurt her? I know it is very toxic...It grosses me out that she keeps eating my kitten poo, that is so gross! |

| My Rudy likes deer poop. I watch him and try to keep him away from that stuff. The important point is to give him heartworm pills which kill many worms. I have yet to figure out why dogs like other animal's poop.
