Need recommendation for Vet for Ear Cropping in Virginia

Any help on a Vet in Virginia (Washington DC to Richmond) that does ear cropping for a new dobie puppy (9 weeks old). I have called around the Fredericksburg area, but most vets do not perform this service. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Did you ask your breeder for a recommendation? You were given names of very good breeders back in November and I believe all of them crop and 1st post before pup goes to their new home.

Dr. Sophia Koster is excellent but she's in NJ.

Usually the breeder has it done . You can try these vets that got some good reviews online but always ask to see photos of other dobermans they have done ! You don't want them to mess up your baby's ears.Again I have never went or used any of these vets and you can't always go by what you see online . These were just recommended by other people .

I have a list of expert croppers and it also has Dr Anderson listed. I notice the phone number is the same but not the address, but my list is old.

Thanks everyone for your help! I have taken the dobie girl to Pender Animal Hospital in Northern VA for her ear cropping. Dr. Johnson is very knowledgeable about the breed and ear cropping. I was impressed with the facility and staff as well as they are very professional and helpful.

Buckingham? That's a "middle of nowhere" town about an hour north of me. (Southern VA) Wonder who they crop for?

When Otto was a puppy, we took him here for a posting session and they did an absolutely HORRIBLE job. It was a vet too, not a vet tech. I wouldn't recommend Pender for something as important as a good crop. It would have been a lot easier to go with a reputable/ethical breeder that would have had this already done.

Yes unfortunately as I told tiggerandcera, I dont know of anyone in this area I would trust posting the ears, much less cropping them!! I have seen so many botched up ears and tape jobs done from people in this area and people get my name and ask for help with taping when the ears just arent turning out or have horrible pockets from the way the vets are taping. I just cant believe that these vets continue to do this when they have no idea what they are doing - its frustrating!!

Agree. When we took Otto, it was almost as if the vet had only ever done military crops because the posts only went half way up his beautiful ears. And the posts were made out of paper towels!? Definitely would never go back there.
