blue eyes

I'm planning on buying a red male Dobe right now it's four weeks old I met him today I noticed that his eyes were blue. Will his eyes stay blue for the rest of his life or will they change? Because I really like them

Eyes darken over time. The only eyes that will stay blue are on Albino dogs and they come with a whole other mess of issues.

This isn't a breeder that is selling "blue/green eyed" pups, is it?

If it is, then I highly suggest you rethink your breeder! lol

no was just wondering because I've never seen a three-week-old pup before and did not know that they started off with blue eyes

They start off with greenish blue eyes that later darken into brown.

A five week old puppy with minty green eyes:

Same dog more than a year later, with normal brown eyes:

all red puppies have blue or green eyes as little babies, but they get browner (there are different degrees of the brown too though). They should end up being as brown as their coats, or really dark rust color...at the very least match the color of their markings...hopefully not the bird of prey look, which is really more a yellow than a brown..

Why haven't I seen this pic in the competition for this month's puppy submissions. That's so cute.

I'm pretty sure that it's normal, my pup is 10 weeks and her eyes are still a little blue/grey around the edges but are darkening up all the time. Good luck with the new boy.

they will get darker, its like with baby's, they are born with blue eyes and will change with time, sorry to disapoint you your dobe will not keep the blue eyes.

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

going to get it around 9-10 weeks old. She only showed me because I happen to be at her place getting my other dobes ears reposted and she brought out a couple of the pups so I can see them and I fell in love
