kane is a fine looking Dobe how much does he weigh looking for a comparison. My boy Anzio is 7.5 months and 73 lbs he is an intact male and I plan on keeping him that way. Is that a remote collar on Kane? I am obedience training and plan to get a remote collar. How is that working out for you.
We haven't been to the vet in 3-4 weeks but he was 57lbs then. He's really hit a growth spurt the last few weeks. I'd say he's at least mid 60# now. We remote collar trained him through off leash K9 and it's been great. Lots of negatives on here about it but I love my dog and wouldn't continue if I thought he was in distress st all. He's to the point now where all we have to use is the vibrate collar on the option unless it's a correction. Chasing cats, eating the car food , etc.
Thank you for the information. I just ordered an e collar and like you I am not interested in hurting my dog in anyway shape or form. In reading about the e collar, folks talk about finding the right level of stimulation/correction, that it is important to get that right. Any tips you can share would be appreciated. No substitute for experiential learning.
The best advice is to find a good trainer familiar with the training. It's only beneficial if done properly. After that there are some great you tube videos.
Dbrown, Kane is a stud! We just started Jack on e-collar training as well. How long did it take for Kane to really respond to it? Jacks already beginning to respond after a week, but still sometimes confused.
Thank you. Kane did great right away with the collar. I had an amazing trainer though. He has competed all his life and has trained police dogs locally for over 10 years. The whole first lesson was spent on training me how to use the collar while my trainer wore it on his arm. Seemed weird then but it was great training. I learned the correlation of leash pressure, stimulations and timing so that I didn't confuse the dog. Kane wasn't involved until lesson 2. After his first lesson Kane understood that the commands correlated with the collar. That's not saying he wasn't still bullheaded from time to time to see what he could get by with.
