Got my pup 2 weeks ago and I thought he was growing just fine, but recently I started researching how much his weight should be and he's about 5 pounds under. His current weight is 15 pounds at 10 weeks.
Also I'm not sure if its because of his docked tail, could his tail weight that much?

Here are some pics :D tell me how he looks health wise too xD
Im going to start feeding him more because ive been reading he may need to eat more

You seem to have managed to post this twice--and I'm dial up so it takes forever for internet images to load--and I haven't got time to wait (if they load at all and a lot of times they don't.)

If you didn't take your puppy into see your vet within the first few days of having him you probably should have and if you didn't you should do so now.

Seeing and feeling a puppy is going to give a lot more information than just what the puppy weighed. There can be a big range in what a 10 week old male Doberman puppy weighs--different lines may have radically different growth patterns and puppies may weigh more or less than an "average" for that age.

On average most male puppies from 8 weeks put on about 10 pounds of weight for each month so it doesn't sound like your puppy is very far off that average.

And I don't understand the question about the weght of the puppy's tail? Whether the puppy was docked or undocked shouldn't make much difference in weight at his age.

The general lines I have in my dogs produce puppies that are usually a little heavier than average especially at younger ages--so most of my puppies would weigh around 20 pounds at 10 weeks.

It's also nearly impossible to determine health from a picture--another reason to make that early vet visit.

If a puppy is thin their ribs will be very visible and often their hip bones as well--a very thin pup's entire spine may be visible. So if any of this is the case you should start feeding more.

Good luck with your puppy and ask your vet if the puppy appears to be healthy and then you can wait and see about size and weight. Averages are just that--averages so there will always be puppies of different weights at the same age.

That does seem small. I too am confused by the docked tail comment al Dobes should be docked by 10 weeks!

Do you have papers are you sure it was whelped when they said it was? Your puppy looks younger than 10 weeks to me.

Did you take them to the vet? Could they have a parasite?

Not to sound harsh but in this breed you get what you pay for and how much research you do. A nice pet doberman will probably cost between $2000-2500. Price isn't a guarantee but not paying enough is almost certainly a guarantee. Jo schmo breeding in their back yard probably doesn't understand the nutrition the mother needs beforehand, during pregnancy and after whelping. Not to mention what the puppies need as well. Sorry but breeding isn't just putting two dogs together a lot goes behind it. That's if you believe the whelping date which I'm not sure I believe that your boy is 10 weeks old but it could also be poor nutrition so I hope you can improve on that.

I advice giving your puppy a better start and feeding a 5 star food or better.

Also please take them to a vet with a stool sample if you already haven't.

Lastly, feeding more will just create runny stool. Feed more often, try 3-5 small meals a day to increase absorption.

Good luck. Small or not he's still cute!
