You are being a very good sport about all of this but this statement strikes me. I used to think that way until I brought a happy healthy CKC (Continental Kennel club) yorkie home. 6 mo later he had hip dysplasia, 3 mo after that he had liver shunt and the list truly goes on. I could have had 10 or more Yorkies for the cost of that one!!!! But the continual heartache of watching a dog suffer is what's truly priceless. 2 years later I purchased a well bred yorkie from show lines and you know how many health issues I had? Zip, zero zilch! And she was pretty much house trained when I got her!
Do you know there's a hereditary disease that kills AT LEAST 50% of Dobermans? If you search you'll find where a healthy 6mo old Doberman dropped dead and a healthy 9mo old DROPPED DEAD! You question their health but MANY of these Dobes were playing fetch when it happened! Do you know there's a hereditary bleeding disease that can potentially kill your puppy on the operating table while they are getting their ears cropped? Do you know these can be tested for or monitored so you arent breeding dogs that have these issues? Although some of the advice given to you was a bit... Harsh. It's given with love, it's given through the voice of people that have lived through what they don't want others to EVER have to live through.
Like Fitzmar I too work in rescue as a way of giving back. My rescue has never heard of my dogs kennels names and they will never know of my kennel either. This is because both of my dogs are co-owned and microchipped, as will be my puppies some day, to ensure that if something happens to the owners I will take my puppy (or dog) back as my own. This also ensures that they most likely won't become a puppy millers dog because they can't register the puppies without my consent. My puppies, even when sold, are my puppies, and I will love them like my own and ensure they are always taken care of as such. This is what a responsible breeder does.
We here at DT try to encourage people to step away from any purchase, if possible, so as to not encourage the wrong breeders to keep breeding. If puppies don't sell they stop breeding. Your heart maybe set, but if your money isn't, I'd walk away. All breeders should be health testing for both DCM genes, thyroid issues, vWD status, HOLTER monitoring and echoing the heart within 3 mo of breeding, xraying the hips and elbows...
I was just getting some love from some 8 week old and a 10week old puppy(s) it's so easy to fall in love isn't it?!? A dog is a dog is a dog, yes that's true, so if you can, walk away, because a breeder IS NOT a breeder IS NOT a breeder!!!!
If you choose not too or feel you can't WE WILL STILL BE HERE TO HELP YOU!!! Because we are a community and we support others. So plz stay and learn and show us beautiful puppy pictures. You know cream is really the "in" color for toe nails these days not blue >
