Hi Candace, you've got to keep going! Through teething (4-5 months) upwards of 9 months even a year I've heard if the crop is a long show cut. Even once you have done this.....if one happens to fall....you put them right back up! Don't get discouraged, it takes time but it will be worth it.

The ears will fall still at this age, you must keep taping until full adult teeth are through... about 6mth to 7mths old... some depending on how long ears are will be taped longer..
Keep going you'll get through it ;-)

For our new girl (13 weeks today) the breeder said to keep the posts in 3 days and then take off and let them rest a day before putting back in. One ear seems to stand and the other flops. The advice here is to put the posts right back in, which is better? Also what's with the breathe strips? Have you tried them? Sorry didn't start a new thread, seems like we both have the same problem.

Allright I will try to help here. If after taking the post down in three days and the ears are clean (by this I mean, no build up, no fluid in the base of the ear, the post aren't wet, no strong odor, the skin isn't raw) then the ears can be taped longer. Normally 5-7 days. At 13wks I don't see a reason to leave the ears uptaped but a few hours, clean them let them air out and tape back up. As time goes by, you can start leaving the ears down longer and see how they stand on their own and for how long. But I think untaping and allowing the ears to flop basically "breaks" the work you have done. I have a 4month old and her ears come down for a day and a half right now and they stand that whole time but get weaker as the day wears on, so they go back up before they have the chance to flop. Breathe strips are used to straighten ears or fix curls in the end of the ear. I normally use this only after the ears are standing like I want but I want to fix a end that curls in. I know some people use them often, personally I didn't get the results I needed.
Good Luck! And hope that answers your questions!

Thank you very much! I just took her posts out and both ears are standing. Her ears looked good, with no wetness, odor etc. I will let her take her nap without them, then put them back on in an hour or two. I appreciate the info
