| | Lil Dog | Weight/Size Question My 6 month old male dobe is about 45-50lbs. He is pretty tall (he is already taller than my GSD) and VERY lean. I've been feeding him Canidae from the time he has been about 10weeks old. He is VERY food driven and will eat as much as you give him. I've been giving him at least 4 cups total a day for the last few months and he still hasn't put on weight to make him look balanced.
I'm just wondering if its the food? Should I switch to a puppy food?
Pic of him from last week. I don't have access to a profile shot right now, but you can kinda tell how lean he is in this pic.

| It's hard to say without seeing a picture if he's too lean. Dobes are very lean dogs... My male is 6 months and weighs 50 lbs. He eats as much as he wants, usually about 4 or 5 cups a day, or Purina Pro Plan adult formula.

| Your feeding a good food, so I wouldn't worry. Some dogs just burn more calories then others, up his food. What does the bag say to feed for his age and weight?
How tall is he? I think his weight sounds right for a 6month male.
You can always add something to "fatten" him up, hamburger, pasta, oatmeal |

You can always add something to "fatten" him up, hamburger, pasta, oatmeal | I added a pic, although it really doesn't do a good job of showing what I'm describing. The bag says he should be eating about 4 1/2 to 5 cups a day. I've upped his food intake to 5+ cups a day about two weeks ago. He gets a lot of treats too. I was just wondering if the Canidae wasn't providing enough fat or whatever else he needs to gain some weight. He doesn't look sickly thin, just very lean and muscly with his ribs clearly showing. |

| it's taken Logan awhile to fill out, but just keep in mind that he's still very young!
It takes large dogs up to 2 years to really finish growing.
Logan has popped up to 71lbs, and he'll be 9 months on the 15th of October.
But honestly, I wouldn't really worry about it much.
Logan has days where his ribs show. |

| Thanks, Leanne ... it's really made me realize what a little horse Logan has grown into! He can't even fit between my legs anymore. He's too tall, and I'm 5'9" |
