Question Puppy Food Suggestions. 8 wks

Hello everyone!!
I will be picking up my dobie SHOGUN in about three or 4 weeks, at that time he will be around 8 weeks old. I had talked to a guy at Petco and he suggested I buy NATURAL BALANCE "POTATO AND DUCK FORMULA".. What would you guys suggest??

Go to Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble and read over the reviews. I'm feeding "Goose" Wellness Large breed puppy (Super5mix) It's grain free and I believe PetCo is going to start carrying it. It's a 5 star food based on the website I listed and once Goose reaches a year I plan to switch to Wellness Core which is a 6 star food.

You are going to get a bunch of different suggestions but when it all boils down it's about what your pup does best on, you'll likely go through some trial and error. A good number of people are going to suggest Pro-Plan because their dogs do well on it. Anything Purina is a no-no for me but plenty of people have dogs that look fabulous on it so there has to be something to it. Good luck figuring it out.

Yep, Wellness is a good one, and I've used it in the past. The CORE formulas are grainless and had just come out when I switched Poseidon to grain free food (I've not used the CORE formulas). He did really well on Wellness, and it's one I recommend. I think it's great that it's now being sold at Petco, so it's more available now to those who maybe wouldn't have tried it otherwise.

Just a small note though: The large breed puppy super5mix is not grain free. It's got oatmeal, barley, and brown rice, all of which are grains. Just clarifying.

We're picking up our pup in around 2 weeks and her breeder is feeding her Iams Large Breed Puppy.

We are going to buy a small bag of that and then move her over to "Blue Buffalo Large Breeder Puppy"

It was between Blue Buffalo and Pro Plan Selects Puppy for us, but Petco and Petsmart only had the small 6lb bags of the pro plan selects puppy.

I could be wrong but I swear the bag says grain free. I'll have to double check when I get home from work. I'll post an update. It's also possible that for whatever reason those 3 aren't viewed as grains or maybe I'm seeing imaginary labels on the outside of the bag.

EDIT: I just checked the website and it only shows Core as grain free. I may call and wake up my very tired gf so she can check the bag and report back.
