| Is my puppy normal? hmm...Im dumbfounded. I took my puppy to the vet yesterday..and had tapewworms after getting him 3days ago from the breeder. He was weighed at a small 5.2lbs. and the gentleman that sold him to us said he was 8wks old. My husb said he was the biggest of them all......I have taken a look at some ppl's pup pics...sooo cute ..yet so much larger than my lilttle buddy at home. ;( Should I be scared? The doc made a comment yesterday "soon you will come home and ask yourself is this the same puppy?" ...should I be worried or look forward to what the doc stated? ... |

| | Alpha | I think he meant that he knows that the pup is in good hands with you and he will thrive with you and yes, one day he will be a nice big dobey who loves you to death!!!!
You did the right thing in taking him to the vet right away (we did that too and Law had a infection in both ears).
Just give your pup loads of love and attention.
What did he give for the tapeworm?

| FIVE POUNDS AT EIGHT WEEKS? I'm sorry but that is MINISCULE! The poor little guy! good thing that he has a loving home now to take care of him! Either, the breeder was lying to you and he's not actually 8 weeks ( which, from his pics, i would believe) or the worms are really bad and thats why he's that tiny. Either way, you have him and you love him and with time and care he'll grow into a big shiny doberguy.
Just for the record, lexx was around 15 lbs at 8 weeks

I agree with Pammy. I think the vet was giving you a pep talk, but you (understandably) were so concerned (understandably!) for your pup's wellbeing that it was hard to detect the nuance. But I am sure he was telling you everything is gonna be ok. |

Just for the record, lexx was around 15 lbs at 8 weeks | Yeah, Sadie came home at 8 wks and she was 13 lbs. 5 lbs is freaking unbelievable. Poor baby! I'm glad you took him to the vet. Hopefully he'll put some weight on soon!

| Keep the faith. If the breeder was not telling you the truth; it's too late now. You do love your little guy. Love him, watch him, feed him good quality of food, and give him vitamins. He'll do fine! Good luck! |
