Unhappy Lost his bark...

So my hubby and I went to a BBQ that required us to board Jager for the weekend....I am assuming he spent the weekend barking away as when he does bark in the last two days (which isn't often) it is hoarse and squeeky...will this heal on its own or is there something I should be giving him??

I know everyone tries to stop their dog from barking and here I am trying to heal his! I just don't know if his throat is sore similiar to us when we loose our voices.

Thanks!

PS I am finally on the last pages of my project!!! Yeah!

The first time I boarded my last dobe, Tessa, she was the same way when I picked her up. Tessa was a barker anyway so I know she spent the whole week making herself heard! And she just healed on her own. It didn't take her very long to get back to normal either. That's not to say that maybe someone on DT won't know of something to help, but I'm sure it will take care of itself too.

Hope Jager his back to his usual strong voice soon!

I know sometimes it can take me a week to get my own voice back. It doesn't take much for me to strain it and then I lose my voice. Maybe it's the same for dogs.

Okay - don't mean to be a downer - BUT, just watch the breathing too. My friend from work just picked up her pup (lab) and he was barking at the kennel and here when they got home he couldn't breath nor bark. He had larangytis (sorry for spelling) - she took him to the vet and he needed IV treatments to get the swelling down.... she just brought him home today - he was picked up Sunday. He has to remain calm, no running (ha ha), nothing to upset him for one week - so basically she has him in her bedroom, pulled the shades down and has soft music playing! She also is staying home with him too ....

Vet said it is common for dogs/pups to get this after being boarded but the trouble breathing is the main sign/symptom something else is wrong.

This common problem usually fixes itself in a few days. I know when my two are boarded, they must bark their foolish heads off because they are so hoarse when they come home. The don't bark for a day or so. My advice is to enjoy the quiet time!! However, if your pup shows any other signs of discomfort such as the above post of breathing difficulties, then this may be a sign of a more serious problem and a vet should be consulted. Good luck!

Thanks for the information!!! He doesn't seem to be having any problems right now but I will keep an eye on him!

So it is common for dogs to bark when boarded?? I didn't know if I needed to find another place. This place is so clean and they match the puppies/dogs up very carefully for play time during the day. They board a lot of dogs there as it is the nicest as far as clean but I do hear them barking a lot....
