| | Alpha | Late going in, but Jager is now fed RAW. After a month of loose stools, major weight loss, and three puppy foods...we went RAW. Jager is doing not only well but VERY well. I bought quite a few books but I like the BARF diet and Real Dogs eat RAW (I have to double check that second one). I ordered them right off Amazon. It lists right there everything a puppy/dog should eat or can or what they should not. I also joined a RAW talk group similar to this one that was suggested to me by someone on this forum.
Jager eats 2 pounds of RAW each day which currently includes beef, chicken, turkey, pork, carrots, apples, oranges, raw eggs, organ meat, berries, and other veggies as well. We had to make the switch cold turkey but in one month has only had one loose stool and that was because we didn't feed a meal with bone. We also serve the majority of meals frozen as Jager was inhaling his food.
We have friends that order the Nature's Variety and like that as well. Everything is prepackaged and easy. We found it was cheaper(and we like making his meals) to do it ourselves.
There are really great people on this forum and others that are very helpful!!

| Im going to try the Natures Variety Beef Patties, Maybe 18oz (1.5 patties) for breakfast and 18oz for Dinner. For lunch I'll just give her some Canidae ALS. We will probably try a variety of there flavors to keep things changed up. We have given her the NV Rabbit medallions and she loved them. |

| Just make sure she gets a variety and not the same thing everyday. |

| Lexx has been fed raw since 8 weeks. I suggest that if you are going to switch, do all the reading and research FIRST, then switch cold turkey. Don't switch slowly, its actually harder on their system, however, introduce new meats slowly. For instance, start with chicken, feed that every day for awhile until they are used to it, then introduce a second meat for awhile then a third etc. The goal eventually is variety, but you don't have to attain that immediately.

| Vader has been fed raw since the start. I use Nature's Variety & regular raw food from the store. The NV makes breakfast a snap & I don't eat meat & have to say I kinda get grossed out by the organs so the NV works great for me.

| Ok, I bought Chicken, Beef & Rabbit. The package comes with 12, 12oz (???) Patties.... I feed her One & a Half patties for Dinner. And One & a Half for Breakfast. For lunch I will feed her one & a half cups of Canidae ALS (old Formula). She ate those NV patties so fast and was looking for more. I hope I'm giving her enough food. My plan is to switch up beef, chicken, rabbit, Lamb, Venison. Just mix it up a bit. |

I was told to feed Jager 2% of his adult weight...we just went with 100...easier to calculate...and will adjust when he gets to looking a little chunky (that has not happened yet)! I am guessing those patties are 1 oz but I didn't feed puppyfood at all as Jager was allergic to it. I'm guessing (and please someone who has been feeding RAW a lot longer than me chime in) that she is hungry??? But again I did not feed puppy food so I am not sure how that calculates in??

I was feeding Sade 2 cup of kibble(canidae) twice a day. She is 4.5 months ,40 lbs. and is very lean. I gave her Nature's Variety raw medalions(chicken) for dinner last night and she loved it. I only feed twice a day, and will probably just replace more and more kibble meals with raw. |
