| we fed our dog Canidae all life stages kibble when he was a puppy. He did well on it and like it then. For various reasons, he stopped liking Canidae and we ended up on Purina Pro Plan. Now at 22months old we moving him to Innova adult.
Stick with a good brand - you will pay more for quality. Feed either an all-life-stages type food, or, if you want a 'puppy food' it should be large breed puppy until he passes at least 6 months old. Don't feed one of the high protein, no grain foods like EVO to a puppy - it's too much for their systems and too much calcium and protein.

This is something that's highly individual for each dog-a food one dog might thrive on will cause ongoing problems for another dog. You pick one, you give it a reasonable try and see what happens. If the dog has problems with it, you transition over to another food and try that.
The last puppy I raised did well on Canidae All Life Stages from 14 weeks on.

| we always fed cheap and chearfull food LOL own beand pet store stuff. dogs loved it but they had to eat large quantities to stay healthy 600g a day, zeus is not a good eater and could not eat that volume. we switched to eukanuba cos its so good quality they only need 300 g a day to stay healthy and zeus is doin much better. i would go with quality over cheap and chearfull now !!

| I have heard that a lot of people have had success with Innova's large breed puppy formula. The "premium" dog food brands will usually not be available at your local Petsmart or Petco. You'll have to go to a specialty food store to get the good stuff. Although I just saw where Petco is starting to sell Wellness products, which is what my dogs are eating.
If you don't have a specialty store close by and you need to resort to something from Petsmart, I would recommend Blue Buffalo. My dogs did well on it, and they have a large breed puppy formula.
But there is no "one size fits all" food. Try something good and see how your dogs do on it. If they don't do well, then gradually switch to something else. It may be touch and go for a while, but you'll find something that works well.

| | Big Dog | I am using the wellness supermix5 puppy. Our girl is doing very well on it. A little loose stool, but we mix it with a table spoon of pumkin and that seems to be just fine. She LOVES IT. |

| Pedro, I feed wellness core and my dogs LOVE it and look great. Just so you know, the core formulas should not be fed to puppies. Be sure to get a puppy formula, and maybe consider the core when they're older.

| Not trying to hijack the thread but.....
How long should you feed a food to determine if the dog is doing well on it?
