Vito's Role as Guard Continues

Vito usually sleeps in the bedroom with me, but last night he was such a tired boy that he pooped out on his bed in the kitchen.
5:30 this morning I awoke to "Bark, Bark, Bark, Growl, Bark." It was deeper than his play bark, but not quite as menacing as his "Mom I will save you bark."
I got up, and waddled downstairs in my pj's and big hair to see what was the matter...

The problem?! This vicious thing:

Yup, Vito was standing a foot away from it, barking away. Note: The air wick has been there for quite some time...

I shook my head and went back upstairs...letting Vito continue to threaten the poor air freshener.

Then it was time to eat and all was quickly forgotton:

I know this is silly, but we had one in the beginning and he never quite warmed up to it. I was (and am of course) just in love with him, so at night for a little while, he slept in the bed with me. Now, he his his own bed at the foot of ours. Because we're at work for a little bit during the day, I felt guilty to leave him in a crate (that's the silly part, I know). So I block off the kitchen, and he has his bed and some toys in there with him. This way he can run around a little while we're gone and entertain himself. The toys are safe, and there's nothing he can get into.

Surprisingly, it works. We don't have any problems with him going potty or anything.

If I could do the kitchen thing I would but unfortunately (well only in the case of the puppy) we have an open floor plan (great for parties, ha ha ha!!!) We made the decision that we would start weening him at 12 months for a goal of 18 months to have control of the mudroom and see how it goes. It is hard to tell right now as he is such a puppy and "oh rugs are fun to chew on, and oh that hat hanging on the hook there is fun to jump at...and just recently since he can not have rawhides...oh oh oh the grandfather clock is fun to chew on too!!! (shhhh, dont' tell the hubby, YIKES!)

Hahaha! Gotta love puppies! Vito chooses things sometimes to chew, that he shouldn't -- but it makes me laugh -- and I pull a "shhh, don't tell the boyfriend."
Example, the new couch is my boyfriend's baby. Vito is NOT allowed on it at all! The other day he had the zoomies, did a flying leap onto the couch and zoomied on it! I was laughing so hard...
