seperation anxiety?

Kali is 15 weeks old, i have only had her for just over a cpl of weeks. i noticed early that she dosent take to kindly to being left alone for even a second. I put her in her crate the other day for a cpl of hours, so i could get in a nap. and she never quit barking and or whining. (two hours straight) I cant even close the bathroom door behind me without her pawing and whining to be let in. let alone leave the house to run to the store. Im hoping since shes still very young with some advice here, i can turn this around before its to late? So if anybody has any ideas on how i can fix this seperation anxiety thing with her. Im all ears!!!

does she sleep in her crate at night?

I sometimes put zeus in his crate so I can sneek in a nap

I toss in a pig ear with him to keep him happy lol! most of the day he is right by me. but he likes his crate too....he has his own bedroom so at night he sometimes just goes to bed on his own

he is such a good baby boy. when ever he goes in his crate he finds yummies......I toss in chewies and pig ears and toys. so he knows there are rewards and happy things in his crate

No she sleeps with me. And now that you mention it im sure thats probably the root of the problem.

yup......she is not use to the crate. I would make her sleep in it at night.

lol! something tells me it might be a long week! when zeus came home he cried in the crate the first night.I think mostly because it was new. he had slept in a crate at the breeders....but his new one was different. we used my OLD slant front crate. it is like 27 years old ha! from one of my first dobermans.I am a pack rat that keeps everything.

anyway after that first night he did very well.

I would toss all her goodies in the crate.......maybe even feed her in it. all good things come from being in the crate

Yep, it is. You will make it!!! As a former elementary teacher I was always telling my parents to practice "tough love", didn't realize what I was asking until about um 12 weeks ago....ha ha.

I think if she is tired then you can see her to sleep in her crate while staying with her. When asleep, creep off and go to bed... When it's morning and she/you are awake and let her out then don't make a fuss. Just act like you hardly notice her for a minute. Let her go toilet first then give her a treat. No big fussing or it will nurture this anxiety.

My friends lab was a big whiner at night so we wrapped his crate with a blanket that his owner slept with so the dog could not see out at all. He started sleeping through the whole night without making a noise at all.

Great advice everyone, Last night wasnt to bad. She fussed for about 10 mins at most. But come 5am this morning uggg. she went on and on for an hr then finally fell back asleep till 8am witch i could live with. Hopefully tonight will be better, I bought her some yummys to occupy her. we will see how it goes pretty soon.
