Great advice from everyone I just wanted to add that Bo has a lot of energy in the evening, and we find that taking him out and playing with him or taking him on a walk does wonders in the evening. Oftentimes, Bo and I will take a walk after 9 p.m.- it's great bonding/leash training time because there are not as many distractions as during the day- and it's cooler outside! There is not much traffic, walking in the evening is how I taught him to sit when a car passes by us.

Thanks again for all the great advice!

Last night was actually much better for us. Like I said, we have been using the Off command and he's much better about not jumping on the furniture. We also played some fetch, trained, and let him run around outside from about 8-9pm and he was much calmer after we came inside. He just chewed some toys and got lots of love and by 10 he was pooped!

Another stupid question (new puppy owners have lots of them), but what kinds of places do you think would be safe to take my pup, then? There is a coffeeshop closeby that allows dogs and I'd love to take him there but then, don't know if those dogs have had shots and whatnot. So far I have taken him to the vet (duh) and to visit my husband at work.

Also, I have read a lot on here that most people think it was fairly safe after pups have had their second round of shots to start taking them places. Well, my breeder got their first shots and dewormed at 6 weeks. I took my pup to my vet at 8 weeks and she said this should be considered his first round of shots, not the second (they do it at 8-12-16 wks). I'm confused!

I started taking lexx places after his second round of shots, walks everywhere, to the coffee shop, to rona, to the plant store, wherever there was people and dogs were allowed. I stay away from dog parks even to this day, so I don't suggest there, but even in car rides is a great way to wear a pup out.

I also agree that he should ahve some crate time during the day. I made the mistake of NOT doing that with Lexx when I first got him and now he is terrible in the crate when people are around doing things, he just wants to be involved!!

also, 10 weeks is not a good time to start letting the pup have "more freedom". When we say "gone awhile without an accident" we are talking like... 4 months, 6 months... my dog is 13 months and is STILL restricted to certain areas of the house!
