| Puppy play Ok another wierd question in think but its been bothering me. What is everyones opinion on letting my two play a little rough, does any one think it might lead to agression latter on in life. I can tell when one gets tired and seperat them. They look fine just more rough than im used to seeing pups play. Plus they are getting big so i think it looks worse than it is.

| I think its a normal doberman thing to rough it up a little, but once one of them (usually the little one) starts growling its game over. I finally managed to figure out how to turn things down a couple of notches when one of them decides to take things to the next level.

| | Big Dog | My two play rough on a daily basis. My trainer has said to let them fight it out now rather then later to let them know there limits and find out who is making the calls before they get to big. When it gets too wild or is escallating to much I do put a stop to it so they are still aware that me and my fiancee are on top. |

| Java (3 yrs) and Rexx (who is 6 mos) love to wrestle, but when it starts to get even the slightest bit rough, I tell them 'Enough' and get them to sit for a treat. If they don't listen, then they each get a shot of water from my plant mister on the shoulder when I say 'Enough' (no yelling, just a calm, firm voice). That gets their attention and they sit for a treat. Bottom line is that I need to be the top dog and when I tell them to stop, they need to listen.
A yelp will generally signal to you when things are getting out of hand, but I know that the snarling faces can make it seem as tho' they are more serious than they are. After a few minutes of baring teeth, snarling, and wrestling, sometimes they will both stop, one will lick the other's nose, puppy bow to each other and then they are back at it. On the up side, after 20-30 minutes of chasing each other and tussling, they are both ready to have a nap!
A good friend has two male mini-doxies and when they play they sound far more serious than Java and Rexx do!

| My two play rough and tumble with eachother on a daily basis... Sometimes Duke can get kinda annoying to Mia though so I will let her out alone to get some one on one play time without getting harassed by Duke the whole time. He will run up behind her and do the whole body slam thing or bite the neck really hard thing. She may make a yip which I dont like but about 2 seconds or less after that she is up and kicking his butt! But then I try to tell them enough depending on the situation and so they know that I am still the boss. Just keep a eye on them to make sure no one is getting REALLY hurt. It has not gotten to any over aggressive on our end and they have been playing that way for 2 years...

| Um yes I can relate to getting run over!! AHH!! When Mia and Duke start doing their zoomies they will run by SOOOO close to me. Usually they miss me but every once and a while Duke will kinda be out of control and just forget to turn or something and run right into me. The best one is when we are playing with him on the big hill by our house and he runs into me going down hill... then I fall over and go rolling down the hill with him! |

| | Big Pup | I think it is fine, just watch them.
They are smarter than we give them credit for. When one gets a little too rough, one may yelp a bit, and then it's game over.
If they continue to play, the one that was playing a bit more rough, will just ease off a bit (this also depends of personality).
Are they the same age?
Are they both male?

| Mine are now 11 months old and they've only been allowed to play together outside since the begining. Inside is relaxing, chewing bones, cuddle with mom time.
I don't interfer with their outdoor play, but I'm always watching to make sure it's play and not turning into agression. If I feel they are getting too wound up, I tell them enough and put them both in a down position.
