| Ours also can seem really intimidating and vicious when they play, but in all the years, we've realized it is almost always just play. When someone gets out of hand, and it has happened a couple of times that someone gets fresh, they might end up getting nipped by the other one - but it ends there. If we feel they are getting to boisterous, we also say "That's enough" - or in Melody's case, we threaten to get the hose or "the gun" (which is a watergun)... for some reason, it's the only thing that penetrates that rock hard skull of hers.
Rocky, like Duke, sometimes doesn't see us as he is racing around, and I've come to think of myself as some sort of goalpost, or tag destination... or maybe a bouy? He doesn't knock into David much - but I seem to be in his way more! LOL Anyway, when Alex was alive, they deferred to him, dogwise, and we are always the ones in charge - as long as the pack knows that, it's all play. lois |
