Yep, another puppy food thread

So I will be picking up my new pup this Thursday. I'm EXTREMELY excited and looking forward to all the fun/difficult times to come. The next four days I plan to spend pupping shopping, "puppy proofing" whatever I can think of in the house and basically getting ready for the new addition. All the fun stuff before the real work begins.

One of my immediate worries is food. My longterm goal is to try kibble (Orijen) in the AM and RAW in the PM. I'm thinking I'll transition to this when he's older, say 6 months or so because Orijen is not recommend for young dogs. For the time being though, he's been raised on Timberwolf Organics "Southwest Chicken and Herbs" formula as this is what my breeder swears by and feeds to all of her dogs. This seems like a good food according to reviews here and DFA.com and I would probably stick with this, except it's not readily available in my area.

My breeder will be sending me home on Thursday with a bag of this food though, so I don't have to seriously stress him out by going to a new food cold turkey. I'm going to forgo a puppy food since he's already on an adult formula and has been his whole life. I'd like to slowly switch him to something else though since I can't find Timberwolf around here.

What is everyone's thoughts/experiences with Canidae ALS or Wellness (not CORE) for puppies? Wellness is very easy for me to get as I work PT in a pet food store that just started carrying it and also get a 20% discount. When it comes to what I feed my animals though, cost is not really a significant concern.
