Just a question...why not use puppy formula (Esbilac) reconstituted and blended in with the food? It seems like that would be a better choice than goat's milk...

I prefer goats milk myself. Also, they are still nursing on their mother at this point, swimming in gruel is a suppliment in these early stages.

Gee, I never noticed it there.

Thanks all!! Such a fun time with the puppies... I appreciate all the suggestions!

And so does Xena, the mom. She gets to clean up what the *kids* don't eat!

Since you are sharing you have puppies on the forum, I am naturally curious to hear more about the parents of the puppies

Sorry, I got rather distracted this past week. My son was in a motorcycle accident. He's ok, but only because he was wearing full gear and a motorcycle helmet that now has a huge gouge in it... 4 broken ribs, punctured lung, partially collapsed.

There are 8 puppies in the litter. They loved everyones' suggestions!

This is what I use to wean my puppies. Just Born formula mixed with Chicken Soup Puppy food, blended to make a gruel. Goat's milk is much lower in fat, calories and very high in sugar compared to bitch's milk and the milk replacement products such as Esbilac and Just Born.
I eventually start using water to mix instead of the milk replacement. My 12 week old puppy is now eating Chicken Soup Puppy.
