So apparently my puppy can read as I had posted he was a sissy on Cookies thread regarding Vito being a guard dog.

Yesterday, on our way out the door for potty, three mangy looking dogs popped out from the back of our house. Apparently they found living under our back porch a good idea. One was a black lab mix and the other two could not even begin to tell you....well I guess they decided to take over our house and began to bark, quite scary actually.

Jager turned and stood right in front of me (well it could be he just wanted to see what all the commotion was about)! I decided best to take him inside before trying to deal with this situation...put him in the mudroom but apparently in my frustration of how to get rid of these dogs didnt shut the door all the way. Well I went out to my back porch and raised h*** to scare them away. All of sudden I hear this deep adult like bark that I have never heard before and I turn to see my little Jager telling these dogs they better hit the road. The minute he barked all three turned and ran off.

So I don't know if he was just showing off his new bark or was truly protecting he is a little young yet but I was more impressed by this bark that came from no where! I guess all that barking at my horse mask paid off...ha ha ha!!!

Gotta love dobe puppies!!!

PS Keep your fingers crossed...solid for four potty trips now!!

yep, he's found his man bark... he was probably as surprised as you - now - he'll start using it since he can... they grow up so fast..

yeah, the little man no longer fits on my lap...although he tries REALLY hard to! I cant believe 4 months ago he could fit in my hand!!! Although I kinda like the not peeing on my new wood floors thing, he he he!!!

Nice guard dog in the making. Glad he's feeling better! My boy is slowly, but surely turning the corner too.

Way to go Jager! Nice job being manly! Interesting isn't it, to hear their puppy bark, yet when there is "danger" -- the bark that comes out of them is 10 times deeper and scarier!!! It's like a different dog. I had been telling the boyfriend about this deep, secret bark and he didn;t believe me. Yesterday, a golden retriever came up into our yard, and Vito did the deep man bark and scared him away. The boyfriend looks at me and says, "Wow. I didn't believe you. But he just sounded like a different dog!!!"
