Cool. My plan is to feed Innova Lg. Breed Puppy as well. I at first thought you were saying to steer clear because it's higher in caloric intake per cup of food.

Why isn't IAMS good? I thought that was one of the "top" foods - god, they charge for it more than others.
This alone is reason enough for me and why i will never buy another bag of Iams again.

IAMS Kills!

ETA: just noticed this has already been covered

I also had Pano Issues with Mars feeding Canidae. I have also heard from several others that said there pups developed Pano on this feed to. I wouldnt hesitate to recomend Canidae for adult dogs but it has left me with dissapointing results in my first doderman pup and i wont be taking the chance on my latest pup. I switched To Eagle Pack Puppy food for Large and Giant Breed dogs. The pano eventually cleared itself up pretty quick and have yet to have a reoccurance of the problem.

Nope - what I meant to say was that Lg. Breed puppy is significantly lower in calories than regular puppy food, which is a good thing.

i am currently feeding mauser canidae als and origen large breed puppy mixed 50/50 and supplimenting with added glucosamine. i am really happy with the results! the mix has more protein than most foods, but not as high as the 42% that staight origen would have. it also has somewhere in between the caloric intake of large breed puppy food and a regular puppy food.

Has anyone bought their food off of amazon? Its seems like many of the more expensive brands are significantly cheaper than most of the internet food sites and also less expensive than buying at my local natural pet food store. Any thoughts?

I havent personally ever ordered any feed thru the internet. But i have researched a few and. Shipping costs usually even the prices out, if not significantly raise them.

I haven't, and I won't. It has nothing to do with Amazon or other online companies, but it has everything to do with my dog food store. The store's only been open for a little over a year and I adore these people and want to support them in any way that I can. They were the first "natural" food store to arrive in my city. Every other place that sells the good stuff around here also sells puppies and I can't support that. Plus the owner is a nutritionist who really knows her stuff.

I send everyone I know to this store. Plus she always gives Poseidon a goodie bag when I bring him along to shop.

One of the vets i worked with put it well, at least i think so anyways, she said go with a food that has been around for a while, if it wasnt doing a good job then *most* people would not be using it and the manufacturer would not still be making it, that being said cat chow has been around forever and i would never feed my cats that, but purina makes really good prescription diets so who knows, go with what works with your dog.
A person i know with Dobes was feeding a RC formula and ran out of it so grabbed caindae because her friend swore by it. In the week she had her dogs on it, they all lost a noticable amount of weight and were pooping about twice as much, but on here lots of people, again swear by canidae.
Personally I have tried a few different foods with my dog, and so far the one that SHE has done the best on(and it pains me to admit i used it) was "No Name Special Diet" it was 2.97 for 5lbs and lasted 1.5 weeks, I have been feeding raw since but i couldnt beleive how well she did on this crap food, it almost pisses me off! Anyways I was of no help other than just chose the food you want see how puppy does on it, switch if you need to.
