WOW I just checked out the feeding calculator on the link for Natura Products. I was feeding Sabre a little over 2 TIMES as much Nutro as it said I should be feeding Innova! That makes the added "cost" look a little better!!! I kno wthat those are only gude lines but I would think if it says to feed him 3 1/4 cups it should be resonably close.

Interesting.

You can also go to Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble and look under 1 star foods. Read the ingredients in the food to get more information.

I don't feed puppy food to Doberman puppies. Just high quality adult or all stages food.
Holy crap!! I thought we were feeding our dogs some of the good stuff, ty so much for that we are going to start them on another brand ASAP.

I just got off the phone with my breeder and she said the pups will be weened on Diamond Large Breed Puppy Lamb and Rice. Anyone have any expirence with the Diamond line of foods. I see they have a 3-Star rating. I know that it has been mentioned that Dobes might not do too well on either Lamb or Rice (I can't remeber which).

Thanks for any and all info!

Personally, I would never feed Pro-Plan, but it seems that a lot of dogs are doing well on it. I have had success with Innova, Canidae, Orijen and now feed Great Life Unleashed. It is a kibble/raw food.

I have LAW on the Pro Plan Puppy food and mixing in his old food which the breeder was giving him - he is doing "ok" but not scarfing it down like he was the Puppy Chow for Lg Breeds.........

However, we have some ear cropping issues going on - he was put on antiobotics on Monday. He had an infection in his ears........errr.

He now wears a cone and no ear wrappings! He only had them on 2 weeks but they must have been too tight and well, I'm not sure. The vet I took him too was very upset as she took one look at him (the day after we picked him up) and told me he had an infection.

I was just getting ready to make a post when I finally read above someone mentioning that the dog foods mentioned thus far were very poor in the grand scheme of things. I'm not sure if this was posted on pages 4 or 5 but here is a link I use to research dog food.

Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble

I'm going to be feeding my puppy when I get him/her in August something from Natura, most likely Innova.

Yeap.. I've been ALL over that site! I just cannot figureout for the life of me why so many are having good results with pro paln as it is only rated 2 stars......kinda makes me think the reviews do not tell the whole story. Still doing research. The dimond brand my breeder uses is rated at 3 stars, I ws planning on feeding Innova but I have read a bunch of posts that did not have great things to say about it. So confused...

From my research Innova is just really high in protein which some view as bad. I'm still on the fence with what to feed my eventual pup but it will likely be a food manufactured by Natura (The Co. that makes Innova).

I've also read good things about chicken soup for the puppy/dog soul

As far as Pro-plan is concerned it has A LOT of filler ingredients which isn't good and Purina is even worse. I was honestly shocked to read that anyone on this site was feeding their pups Pro-plan or Purina. Neither have been considered very good for a good long while. However as already stated some dogs do well on certain foods. I personally am going to go with what it says on the bag, if it has a bunch of unnecessary filler it's not a food that is going in my dogs mouth. The more natural the better, the less grain the better.

Canidae All Life Stages

I feed my two 3 month brothers Canidae. The vet had them on science diet, reading many posts, I understood that corn, soy, wheat, meat by-products dominate most unhealthy dog foods. Canidae and Innova have all natural ingredients and are wheat, corn, and soy free. They love Canidae ALS with a half can of canidae als wet food. I feed them 3 times a day, 1 cup each feeding. They didn't like science diet or diamond all that much. hope this helps
