I give my Cleo Purina One puppy food for large breeds and she loves it. I mix it with water and let it settle for about a few hours or so and then mixed it with 1/4 of canned beef. Overall she does good on it. Sometimes she just has to do without the beef when I run out but anyhow she likes it. I'm planning on keeping her on Purina One for now till shes a year old and then switching to just raw meat slowly.

Yep - I think I may just go with the Pro Plan. I think it's a good food - I'll do the puppy for larger breeds first - then switch to adult food later on. Pro Plan too is easily accesible..... the canidea isn't around here. If the vote would have been canidea - then I would have went to the one store that carries it........

Thanks everyone!!!!!!! I really appreciate all the advice.

Most experts don't recommend switching foods because it can cause digestive problems, even if only indigestion and loose stools. Foods should always be changed gradually, increasing the ratio of new to old mixture over a week or 2. But if you are concerned about variety, why not buy 2 good kibbles, mix them in a bin, and feed that - if one has more vegies, or better balance or no grains, then you can create the mix your dog does best on. When ours were puppies, we mixed the food the breeder encouraged, which they weren't crazy about, with a big breed puppy food they liked. I think this time, with the new puppy, we might try one or 2 of the ProPlans - everyone seems to be really enthusiastic about them! lois

I feed Pro plan large breed puppy but am switching to the adult salmon and rice one. I started out with Royal Canin but his poop was soooo loose it was awful. Now it's much better on the pro plan.
I dont want to get into a whole thing about it but please dont feed Iams or Eukanuba, since they have been bought by Procter & Gamble I wouldn't buy any of their products. If you want to know more google Procter & Gamble and animal testing.

IAMS is made by the MARS company as in MARS chocolate bars, need i say more?
Then again Hill's is owned by proctor and gamble.
IAMS is good for a "grocery store brand" but thats about it, take the time to go to a pet store and get some good food.

Iams is a subsidiary of Proctor and Gamble
http://www.pg.com/product_card/prod_card_pet.jhtml

Hills is a subsidiary of Colgate
Colgate Toothpaste | Toothbrush | Dental Care | Home & Personal Care | Pet Nutrition

Purina is a subsidiary of Nestle
Nestlé USA | Find Nestlé Brands

Pedigree is a subsidiar of Mars
Mars Petcare || Welcome!

MediCal (available in Canada) is a subsidiary/affiliate of Waltham/Royal Canin - but that's a smaller company and I can't remember the primary company

Just so everyone has the facts straight...

I thought Purina was owned by Nestle.
