Posting Supplies

Where can I purchase posting supplies for a traditional post? The tape from the vet is coming off and I need to purchase some to repost. Also, what do I use to hold the ear up, looks like the vet used some type of foam, but I am not sure where he got it.

Foam: we used backer rod foam roll you can buy at Home Depot, Ace hardware, etc. The bigger diameter one I think 5/8".

Tape: get a good equivalent to J&J Zonas tape. Should be light to medium tack, and most importantly, breathable. Not the heavy super sticky plastic or heavy cloth tapes.

You will also want a little gauze to put at the ear-insertion end of the foam rod that you cut.

Also, ear powder to put in the ear canal before you stick the post in.

A good pair of scissors.

oh, big P.S...

to use the foam backer rod, you have to first cut the length you need, wrap in spiral barber pole fashion with masking tape to stiffen it, then back-tape it with the posting tape, sticky side out, to give the ear a tacky surface to adhere to, in addition to the tape wrap.

I use tampons with the cardboard applicator. Starting frim slender when the pup is real young to supper.
Zonas tape 1 inch. You can find on line
And most importantly, Unisolve adhesive remover. The Unisolve works great. The fur will not be removed with the tape.
You can also get the Unisolve on line.
I buy the 8 oz bottle.
Before I post, I take a cotton ball and wash the ear inside and out the alcohle. Before I post I make sure the ear is completely dry.

Thanks. You wouldn't happen to have any pics of your posts would you? I tryed using tampons with a breathable adhesive tape. Just want to make sure that I am doing it right. I also made a bridge with masking tape, to hold the ears up straight. Nino keeps shaking his head all the time though. Can you point me to a website for the tape and adhesive remover? Thanks for all your help!!!

I highly suggest using the posting tape for the bridge and watch out for it being so low that is constantly rubs on the top of the head, but not too high that it will tend to pull the ears together all the time. There were some excellent posting threads on DT - a search should yield good info.

I try to get some pics of how I post the next time I need to do Jaden's ears.(within the next few days)
I post twice a week.
If you google and type in unisolve
adhesive remover, you will have many sites to choose from.
I don't remember who I bought it from

De-solv-it - I think that's what it's called. You can get it at Ace near the furnature polish. I got tape on ebay - Zonas tape.
