| | Big Pup | a question the owners of neutered dogs I have been tossing the idea of getting my boy neutered now for a month he is 6 and 3/4 months old. Im just wondering what the changes would be that i would notive if i got him neutered now or if i waited a lil while longer. Also i was wondering when you guys got your boys neutered and why you waited or didnt wait to do it when you did. Thanks in advance.!! |

| I wanted to wait until at least a year old (if not 18 months) to neuter, as this is the general recommendation for the breed - but I ended up doing it at 11 months. I couldn't take the hormones anymore and being overly interested in sniffing other dogs' (especially females) butts. Red is the same goofball now as he was pre-neuter, but he is much more manageable around other dogs and I am happy with my decision to neuter him when I did. |

| I just did mine at 9 1/2 months. I too wanted to wait longer, but have two males, so thought it was best. I did my last male at 6 months.

| I can't remember when Fiddler was neutered... I think it was sometime after 1 year old. He started to mark EVERYTHING before he was neutered. No more problems, however, after neutering. He was more focused on me and less focused on female dogs after getting neutered, but he's still eager to mount my 10 month old female Dobe... I'd hate to see how he'd be if he had not been neutered! Other than that, I think he acts that same.

| My guy was neutered around 4yrs of age, and I never knew him pre-neuter. Honestly, I don't think it could be much different from now; he still has a really high energy level and is very interested in females. I personally would do it before 1 year of age if you are going to do it, but really it depends on the particular dog

| Town Hall Topic – Spaying/Neutering
I found these articles very helpful in making my own decision. I also did more research on my own and talked to several veterinarians. There is no one good answer for *when* to neuter, you have to do what is best for your dog in your own situation...for each person that is different.

| I neutered Rush at 7 mos. at the insistance of the breeder and I'm sorry I did.Rush got very tall.He ended up with Wobblers Syndrome although
that cannot be attributed with early neutering.Rush was a wonderful that liked everybody but was just a bit too passive for.
My next dog will not neutered till at least 12mos. mayber longer. |

| I waited until my male started to go outside, sniff the air and whimper. I then got him neutered. He was 18 months old. The only other dog we had was a spayed female. He never was obnoxious to people or other dogs and I wanted to be sure he matured and filled out physically. He seemed to be more focussed afterward, although he always was a very good dog and never gave us any problems. We called him our "perfect" Storm.

| Buddy was neutered at 6 months old was in my contract + he was getting very friendly with my female spayed Doxie. Buddy is tall now but not sure if the neutering early was the cause of it or not. Buddy is not very muscular but both my male Bouvier's were also fixed early 6 months they were muscular??? |
