| | Lil Dog | welts on back !? I am mystified by these bumps on the back and shoulder she has developed lately.
They feel like hard calluses like when I get chigger bites but it seems to early in the year for this and besides I didn't think dogs get this.
We have been outside more often with the weather and I have checked her bed for bugs but don't have a clue as to what this is.
You can see it here but only the hair raised not the actual bump. |

| Has your dog had any shots lately?
My boys both got bumps between their sholders from theirs. They eventually went away.

| My Dobes had something like this one time and it turned out to be an allergic reaction to something. They looked like they had measle bumps under their hair. ;0)

| could be a staph infection which is very common in Dobermans. Have your vet check it and ask about staph - it can take awhile to clear up and I've found along with others that a good 30 day dose of antibiotic is needed to clear it up.
Not to say that it could not be something else.......but if all things are the same such a food and stuff, that would be one of my first thoughts as to what it is.

| | Lil Dog | Hmm, not sure but may have to have her looked at because some have bloodied , soft scabs.
No shots lately.
Not sure what kind of alergy it could be not much has changed.
Wondering if she could have gotten hornet stings but I haven't had her out much without me there with her. Besides they usually go for the nose. |

| Have you used any topical flea or tick medicine? My puppy had a reaction to Frontline about 3-4 days after I applied it to his skin. |

| Both my guys will occassionally get these bumps. After you rule out any medical condition, you may want to consider this: because my two are always playing out in the field or pasture, they will sometimes pick up tics and they start to burrow before the flea/tic medicine kills them. It shows up as maybe a tiny bit of blood and a scab. You can see that the tics died, but they did get to do that first bite. Only something to maybe think about.

| | Alpha | It could be an allergic reaction and you could try to give her some children's benedryl. it has helped one of my Dobermans before that had an allergic reaction to a dog shampoo |

| | Lil Dog | They look like lesions under the hair. I swabbed them with a Q-tip and some hdrogen Peroxide.
I wondered about ticks too because I found one crawling on my neck last night after just a little while outside lastnight but didn't see any on her.
Gave her a bath 3 days before they showed up with some pet oatmeal dandruff shampoo that smelled like coconut. She had it once before though.
Then did flea spray which I've put on her many times before.
Was keeping her in basement during day which is a cool 65 degrees so doubt its a heat rash.
Some are scabbing over but there appears to be same amount or more now. Having it checked out tomorrow. |
