From the advice that I have gotten on here, you shouldn't leave the posts out for more than 1-2 hours. Seems that the more they are left down the longer you have to post. My pup is 4 1/2 months and I only leave his down for an hour at the most. I was leaving them longer but lesson learned!! I took all the advice that I recieved and put it to good use. But it also depends on the ear. You may want to check into Breath Right Strips if the tips are the only parts a little loose.

You are just getting starting with posting. I would leave them down maybe an hour or so and put them right back up. I always post until they are done teething. So you could possibly be done around 6-7 months at the earliest.

it depends on the crop and the dog - some are done at 4 months, but most are not.

Yes Velma, I didn't even think about it being a short/medium crop. You are right. But show crops take the most time and work.

Again, it depends on the quality of the cartilege. I've had puppies with long show crops who were done with being posted by 4 months. I've mentioned this before, but I've had a couple of puppies who already had one ear standing by the time we pulled the stitches and took the cups off.

I decide how long a puppy can be out of posts by what the ears are doing..if they're standing well, I'll leave them. If/when I see them start to droop, I post them.
