rusty

Last week I posted that Rusty was growling at a female visitor I had. I put him out as I wasn't sure what to do. Well this week she popped over again. This time he stood in the foyer barking at her. But, I told him to cut it out and made him lay at my feet. When he'd start up I'd pull on his collar and tell him to cut it out. After a few minutes he checked her out and was quiet and just alert at my feet. Midway during our visit he went to sleep on the other couch. So, it was a good day for him learning that not every stranger is a threat.
With the walks he improved each day with the dog aggression. Then one day not a peep out of him even when other dogs barked at him. But, then a relapse as last night he was barked at a dog again. Oh well, I'll keep trying. Baby steps.

Great news! So glad to hear that he's learning his manners... fell asleep huh? lol. He's such a good boy. The more *strangers* you can get to come over the easier it will get.

Gunner doesn't even bark when friends come to my door anymore. He waits till the door opens and see's who it is first. One friend thought I had an *alerting* reject till he came over with someone Gunner had never met.

very good! zeus is more of an observationist he likes to sit and watch whats goin on before he makes a decision what to do with himself. he's learning also. when rusty starts to get good you should take him to the dog park. zeus absolutely loves it. he gets so tuckered out. i go to the park for prolly 1-2 hours and he is just concked out on the ride home.

It sounds as if Rusty is doing great!! He made several steps forward and only one back, I'd say he is well on his way to being a wonderful dobe! Now, if I could just get my two in line! lol
