| Breeders Close?? After we get Madix raised to a good stage we would like to have another dobie for him to play with. Does anyone know of any GOOD breeders in West Virginia or close to? We can't get another from our previous breeder since they only have Madix's parents and we would love to have a little girl. It would be nice though. And like I said before, it seems that Dobermans are extinct in this area. It was hard enough to find my Madix. Just thought that someone may have some idea of where we could start looking. |

| | Alpha | How close is "close"? Since this is a 10+ year investment of your time and love and money I'd probably just try to find the best breeder you can and then think about logistics later. I know it was 6 hrs driving each way to get Navarre from Flagstaff, AZ. Phewww...
But worth every mile...

But worth every mile... | True, and there are always airplanes. My Sadie was "shipped in" from Idaho.

| We drove 5 hours to get Nissa (each way) x 2 trips.
And, we're about to go back to get our male pup (rounding out the pack for us) from our breeder's first litter this year! (probably August/Sept)
Definatley (sp?) worth your while to research and be willing to travel to get the best pup for you. |

I agree with what everyone else has said. But I have a question? Why would it matter if they are full siblings? Are you planning on breeding them?

| I don't mind to travel, but I don't want to travel too far. I don't know that we will breed them. My boyfriend is the one who wants the female dog and he doesn't want it out of the same parents as mine is from. He really wants a black one this time. Just asking for some breeders near the state not half way across the country. |

If you're happy with your current breeder, and like their dogs and are not planning on becoming a breeder yourself, it won't be an issue that they are from the same parents. You may find it hard to get a female that doesn't come with a non-breeding contract from a reputable breeder. Especially if you have an unaltered male at the time.

| If your breeder owns both parents and is breeding them (not once, but twice) I think I would look elsewhere for a breeder also.
A good place to start a search for breeders would be the DPCA website.

I don't know if there are any listings for WV - but you will find breeders in Ohio and western PA
