Puppy had ears cropped Friday, can I leave him alone?

Hi Everyone! I have a pup that is turning 12 weeks old this week. He had his ears cropped Friday and I need to go back to work this week. I was wondering if it is going to be alright to leave him alone with his ears cropped? Any suggestions? He has a crate, but with his ears done now it is too small. I am going to be ordering a new crate from DFS, but until it arrives I need some suggestions. When I have been away before, he stays for a brief time in the bathroom with his crate door open, chew toys, etc. I'm just afraid he might try to scratch his ears and I won't be here to stop him. He is on tranquilizers right now for his crop. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you all very much for reading!

I would definitely use an E-collar to make sure that nothing happens to those ears while you are at work. He could be doing fine while you are home but get frustrated, bored, ITCHY when you are gone and start scratching. The larger crate will make life easier and it sounds like you already have the bathroom set up to leave him. I know how frustrating it all is - I have just been through the spay confinement with my puppy. Thank goodness I can let her "rip" now! Usually they don't worry with the ears much but boredom of being confined alone for hours can complicate things. Use good distractions like kongs, nylabones, etc.
Good Luck!

When I asked the vet about the e-collar he told me it would smash his ears. I just am not sure what to do if he doesn't think I should do that. I'm going to give him a call tomorrow and ask again. Thank you tricia. Does anyone else have any suggestions opinions? Know of any irresistible chew toys? I've got his Kong and stuff it, but he gets bored with it. =(

You just have to get a larger sized e-collar. So it's like a satellite dish instead of a cone shape. Also, you could just turn it the opposite way.. Good Luck!
