ear infection question

i just took his posts out this morning and at the tip where there was a lil bit of healed scab i noticed that the ear is very juicy up there and thick with juice. and some is coming out just curious as how to cure this problem.

DO you mean the tip of the ear is swollen and oozing? If so maybe you should talk to your Vet, you may have to put your pup on antibiotics. And when you retape put some polysporin on the sore area and then guaze over the raw spot and just wrap the top tape looser over the tip.

I recommend taking him into your vet. He could have a yeast or bacterial (or both) infection in his ear, that will only get worse if the ear is taped up and not treated.
Good luck w/ you pup!

Poor Gunnar! I always respect Reddobes advice, a vet trip would be wise. Hope he heals quickly! Good Luck!

I would always recommend a vet over following internet health advice. Until then, a warm, wet compresses (holding a warm wet washcloth to it and re-warming and wetting as needed) for ~20 minutes at least a couple of times a day, followed by a betadine wash and antibiotic ointment. I would NOT tape over it again until it is completely healed and dry again. Go ahead and re-post the ears, but leave that area uncovered. You may be able to rig something so a piece of tape over the top of the post holds the tip up, but leaves that area exposed. If not, just leave that area untaped completely. You will have plenty of time to post it correctly once it's healed up.

I agree with having the vet take a look. If you could post pictures of what you are talking about it might be easier to make recommendations for you in the interim before you make it to the vet.

well heres an update i took the posts out early in the day and the ear was swollen but not that they have been out all day the puffyness has gone away and its just a lil scabby. im going to leave the posts out a couple of days until that area has healed completely. and if the problem persists ill go see a vet thanks for the help though.
