Sweet Potato Chews

I know as well as anyone to avoid products (especially pet foods) that are made anywhere but in the U.S.A., but after several months of giving these to our senior rescue Foster - a big

for these sweet potato "chews".

Before ordering, I initially called and spoke with Knine Kountry (Tracy). She told me they have been selling these for more than 3 years with NO issues or complaints. Due to the history of tainted pet foods, apparently Dr-Chew distributors have instituted VERY stringent quality controls. She even offered a personal reference - her mother, who she claims is EXTREMELY picky and careful about what her dogs eat.

I even checked out the Landy Corporation (couldn't find anything suspicious or scary online about them), website under construction,
they have a patent pending on the chews. Also did a cursory search on the distributor, Windmill Distribution:

The chews are also recommended by the Whole Dog Journal.

Foster has a tendency for bouts of colitis, so bully sticks (as much as he loves them, eeeugh) -- even 1/3 of one, make him sick. These chews have become a substitute, SUPER anticipated treat for him. No problems to date. Granted, even the large ones do NOT last anywhere near as long as a bully stick...but has done well with them....nutritious, good for his teeth, and he LOVES them. A big plus is the "no blockage" label.

We just recently ordered a case, to stay well-supplied. There are several sources online.

Sounds like the ones we made with a dehydrator, my shepherd loved sweet potatoes.

No doubt an easy process (altho I don't have or have ever used a dehydrator), the only ingredient (listed) is sweet potato.

It's a convenience to be able to order them ready-made.

Great idea for a dog treat! I think I will dry some for treats myself. WOuld make a great treat for people too.lol. Love the WHole DOg Journels, tons of information in them. I think I will subscribe to it again.

Thanks Liz, I'm going to try them. Right now Rex is getting so much outdoor exercise we have been coming in and hitting the couch but with fall and some nasty days coming on, I need to get prepared.

Does anyone use a dehydrator to make their own treats for your dogs???? have thought about it but not sure if it would be less expensive than store bought treats at least you would know what was in the treats.

I know that heartbroken (Liz) is very careful what she feeds Foster and he DOES love these treats. In speaking of a dehydrator, well I do have one and I remember I used to make bananas chips for a snack. I would give Jack a few but not too many as he would get a bit stopped up. Liz, whenever you want to make some treats for Mr. Foster, let me know. It would be my pleasure. Thanks for the heads up on the sweet potato snacks. I will put that info in my Foster vault.
