Khaleesi's First Bite Sleeve

SUNDAY IS SCH DAY! Her trainer, Bill Tillery of Smoky Mountain Working K9, and Frankie (Mr. BiteMan) are bringing her along!

Thanks, Sam. The breeder picked her out for me out of a litter of 13 when I told her I wanted to try some working sports. When I went to visit, she showed me some of her "temperament" tests she does with her pups and observations to match what the prospective owner wants and what the dog's temperament is like.

She was spot on for me. The first SCH trainer I took Khaleesi to brought out a flirt pole when Khaleesi was just around 3 months. "Let's see how strong her prey drive is, if she reacts to this little rag, wants to play....blah blah blah....

Khaleesi, with ears still taped, pounced on the flirt pole chamois, ripped it off the line and started shaking it like a rag doll till "dead".

"Yeah, she'll do fine in Schutzhund."

It was so funny. My other Dobe, Dexter, responded just the opposite to the prey drive test, looking at the guy testing him like he was crazy. When he popped the noisy bamboo thing to spur him on, Dexter just sidled up to him and started giving him kisses.

So he's our big dopey sweet dog (who nows shows more prey drive, now that he's an adult).

And Khaleesi is our firecracker, competitor.

How exciting! My girl is doing smaller prey work/bite work but I look forward to when we move to the sleeve. What lines is your girl from?

Both of Khaleesi's "parents" are SCH trained, the sire was titled from Latvia. I went to meet both the dam and sire and was so impressed with their temperaments. Gunner (sire) was cuddling with me one minute, the next -- racing off to catch and kill a squirrel that was (in his opinion) too close to the breeder's horses which were nearby. So I was impressed that he turns it off and on as the situation warrants. Very friendly dog when properly introduced.

This was the most research I've ever done on buying a dog. My other 2 dobes were rescues.

So this SCH is very new to me, and I am enjoying learning more each week.

Very exciting Jhagman - when your research pays off, in a fantastic puppy pick.

Thanks for sharing Khaleesi, those action shots - a pretty girl with loads of drive, is most impressive.

Hahah maybe I should look into training Loki for this! I can't run/jog near him without him latching on to some article of clothing and shaking it back and forth in order to catch/stop me and "kill" it by "breaking its neck".

I can still remember my girls first full on sleeve bite! It was awesome, relish and remember it and recognize it with each new pup that you start.
