Thanks everyone for the well wishes!
It was an amazing weekend, while we didn't make it to finals (that was my dream for the weekend), there were many other great parts to the weekend. We ended up getting clean runs (Q's) on 2 of our runs (+ T2B on friday). Our 1st and 4th run had minor faults, but our 2nd and 3rd were fantastic. I was so happy with how well she handled the sod. Delta often has a lot of problems running on surfaces that are less than ideal. She tends to wipe out pretty easy. We only had one this weekend. Her jumping was much improved this weekend to. She probably was jumping the best she has in the last few months- the sod really agreed with her.
While getting knocked out of contention for the finals during our first run was a bit tough to swallow, it gave me a chance to just run all out, the rest of the weekend. All of the dobes had some fantastic runs this weekend. Tamora was the only one to go 4/4. Way to go! The courses had their challenges, but were very doable this weekend.
For the first ever in a trial I was able to correct Delta's start line!! Delta technically doesn't have a start line
For the last 4 or 5 years I have run pretty much everything without a start line. She just doesn't see the point in staying. When I really need to get a head start I can maybe squeak out a little bit of a lead out, which I needed in the 4th round. She attempted to break and I asked her to lay down again, which she did. Granted my lead out still didn't get me past the first jump, but I got what I needed.
It was so fun to be there with all of my friends, we had a great time going out for dinner each night. Yesterday was a long day though, we were up at 4:30 and at the show by 6:00. We stayed to watch the finals and cheer on Tamora and two of my very good friends who made it to the finals- one with a Siberian and another with a Rottweiler. It was after 8:00 by the time we made it to dinner. We were all just exhausted and just short of talking gibberish.
Yesterday morning I was able to make it over to watch the Dobe judging. I was a little disappointed with the class entries, but the bitch specials were beautiful. Just as with any dog show, some of the dogs and handlers were on their game, others were just off the mark.
We are headed back to Minnesota now. We didn't get on the road super early- we were just to tired to get up early. We will so see how far we make it today. It will be a long day with at least 14 hours of driving. Hopefully I can do it again next year. Both Grace and Delta are currently in the Top 5, and if everything goes well they will both be eligible next year.
