| Schutzhund Orgs and Title Questions I have a question about which organization to use for Schutzhund. I am a member of a United Schutzhund Club local chapter. I have read that in order for my dog's future titles to go on her pedigree then they have to be done in a UDC trial. Is that accurate? I'm confused on which organizations I need to join and which scorebook to get.
Thanks! |

| You can trial at any of the club's trials with an AWDF scorebook from UDC, USA, DVG, etc. Not sure about the whole 'having the titles on the pedigree'. If you have a doberman however, there is no reason not to register her with UDC. Official Website of the United Doberman Club
You can register the dog here and receive a scorebook as long as you are a member of one of the organizations. |

| At the present time, only titles won at UDC trials will be listed on a Doberman's pedigree by the AKC.

| To obtain titles, UScA, DVG, UDC and others (breed clubs) will work. YOu can obtain and achieve titles any venue works. Unfortunately, to have it show up on an AKC pedigree, it has to be obtained or repeted at a UDC club trial. |

| Thanks guys, that's what I figured. So, is there any point to trialing in anything other than a UDC trial? |

| Just because AKC does not list the title on a printed piece of paper does not negate the title or take it away. AKC has only been listing the titles for a few years. What do you think people did before AKC performed this service? A title earned by a dog at a legitimate working event stays with the dog whether AKC lists it on the dog's pedigree or not.
Just to explain, at one time AKC wanted to get into the working sport business and they di for a few certain working/herding breeds for a short time. However there was a lot of political push back principally by UScA. So AKC decided that it was easier for them to charge a fee to list the titles, but not actually hold any events. Each of the AKC recognized breed clubs that are recognized as "schutzhund breeds", e.g. Dobes, GSD, Rotts, Mali's, were allowed to name their club for recognition of a certain specific list of working titles. The DPCA named the UDC as their club for recognition of these working titles. Information can be found at, American Kennel Club - Working Dog Sport, http://classic.akc.org/pdfs/events/w...cord_title.pdf, http://classic.akc.org/pdfs/events/w..._to_record.pdf, and http://classic.akc.org/pdfs/events/w...zed_titles.pdf
