Thanks everyone for your help with my obedience rings in Fitchburg!
I wanted to send a huge thanks out to everyone who volunteered to help as ring stewards for the obedience/rally trials in Fitchburg. DT members stepped up and helped for one day or a few days, earned a lunch ticket, and I hope gleaned some tips for trialing themselves in the future.
I enjoyed meeting all of you, and especially loved meeting Fitzkara's sweet new puppy! He is a doll. Kara also shared some yummy doughnuts with us all the first day. I know we also had Amy, Christine, Kathy, and Kim in the obedience area. Not sure if any other people were DT members or not. The obedience seminar brought more DT folks together, and it was a great day with Diane Smart. We even had a working slot person who came with her dog from Hawaii!
Considering this was my first experience as obedience chair, I felt everything ran well. I have several things to put in my suggestion box for next time. The food was not the best in F'burg, and I know the food in KY next year will be better for competitors and judges just due to the hotel. Also, not knowing any better this year I did not request a start time change to 9 am every morning. We didn't have to start at 8 am for obedience, they just have in the past. (Things you learn as you go....)
Anyone who is NOT showing their dog in 2012 and wants a turn as trial chair, PM me. I need a replacement for the next DPCA National. It will be in Fort Mitrchell next year. It's not that hard, just time consuming once you are on the grounds....but actually it was kind of exhausting but really fun!
